Mary Washington senior Jeff Leckrone and York sophomore Keven Stahl and junior Justine Wantz have been selected to compete at the 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming Championships. The championships will be held March 20-23 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. A total of 579 participants (526 swimmers and 53 divers) will compete in the championships.

Mary Washington's Jeffrey Leckrone won three races as Mary Washington battled Gettysburg College on Saturday. He placed first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 58.23, as well as the 200 yard breaststroke at 2:07.33. He was part of the winning 400 yard medley relay, and also placed third in the 100 yard butterfly.

The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has selected a record 713 teams from 460 institutions to the Scholar All-America Team for the Fall 2018 semester. The teams were selected by the CSCAA’s Scholar All-America committee on the basis of their Fall grade point averages and represent 16,502 student-athletes.

Salisbury senior Peter Moyer collected five individual victories in Salisbury's previous four meets, helping lead the team to a 3-1 record. The senior earned two first-place finishes against McDaniel, coming in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle. He then placed first in the 100-meter freestyle against Virginia Wesleyan and collected his final two against Marymount in the 500-yard and 1,000-yard freestyle. Moyer was also a part of four relay victories, earning one in each of the four meets.

York's Keven Stahl Selected CAC Men's Swimmer of the Week for Third Consecutive Week

York sophomore Keven Stahl had another big week in leading the Spartans to a second place finish at the Washington & Lee Invitational this past weekend. Stahl earned a trio of individual wins for the Spartans. He won the 200 IM in a time of 1:54.53. Stahl touched the wall first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:08.21. He finished off the weekend with a win in the 1650 free with a pool-record time of 16:24.40. Stahl also swam the lead off leg of two second place relay teams, the 400 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay. Stahl's time in the 200 IM is now the top mark in the CAC in the event. For the year, Stahl has 11 individual wins in four meets for the year.

York Sophomore Keven Stahl Named CAC Men's Swimmer of the Week

York sophomore Keven Stahl had another big weekend as he won three individual races at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational this weekend. Stahl won the 1650 freestyle, the 400 IM, and the 500 freestyle. Stahl notched a time of 15:57.97 is the top time in the CAC so far this year while it ranks third in the nation in the event. His 400 IM time of 4:02.43 is third in all of Division III while his 500 freestyle time is fourth best in the nation so far in 2018-19. Stahl leads the Spartans with 11 individual wins for the year. Stahl also swam on three relay teams that earned top ten finishes during the weekend including a pair of fourth place finishes in the 400 medley relay and the 800 free relay.

Mary Washington was selected as the unanimous preseason favorite to win the win the Capital Athletic Conference men's swimming title in a preseason vote among the conference head coaches. The Eagles will aim for their 19th-consecutive conference championship this winter.

The fall golf season is winding down with only a few tournaments left on the slate, while the swimming campaign is just getting started with four of the five CAC teams opening up their seasons this past weekend. This week's CAC weekly awards were given to Carson Castelli of Christopher Newport men's golf, Erica Whitehouse of Christopher Newport women's golf, Jeffrey Leckrone of Mary Washington men's swimming, and Justine Wantz of York women's swimming.

Justin Anderson has been named as the head men's and women's swimming coach at the University of Mary Washington, according to interim Director of Athletics Patrick Catullo. Anderson, a 2010 UMW graduate, returns to his alma mater after five seasons as head coach at Frostburg State University.
