SANTA CRUZ, Ca. - In April, the UC Santa Cruz men's and women's tennis programs saw
Melody Ghaffari and
Andrew Tjoa be named to the Allstate NACDA Good Works Team for dedication in academics and sports while going above and beyond to serve their community. The Allstate NACDA Good Works Team is made up of 60 student-athletes (20 per season) across all sanctioned men's and women's college sports and divisions who go above and beyond in volunteerism and civic engagement, complementing their achievements in academics and sports.
Andrew Tjoa is a champion on the court and in the community. A three-time First Team All-C2C Doubles honoree and 2023 C2C Scholar-Athlete of the Year, he also co-led the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), organizing blood drives, cleanups and cancer fundraisers. From launching ACEing Autism in Santa Cruz to supporting mental health through NAMI Walks, Andrew leads with purpose, compassion and impact.
Melody Ghaffari is a champion for inclusion, using tennis to build confidence for children with autism through ACEing Autism. She launched and now co-leads a chapter at UC Santa Cruz, training student-athletes and running weekly clinics that create joyful, structured spaces for every child to thrive. A Dean's Honors student with a 3.75+ GPA, Melody's vision and compassion are making sports more inclusive—one child, one clinic, one serve at a time.
