UMW’s Deane, CNU’s Stevens Earn C2C Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week Recognition

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the eighth week of the 2024-25 track and field season. Mary Washington's Yasmin Deane received C2C Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors, while Christopher Newport's Katie Stevens was tabbed C2C Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Yasmin Deane, Mary Washington
Mary Washington first year Yasmin Deane finished first in the 100 meters at St. Mary's College, with a time of 12.01 seconds, which ranks third in the nation among Division III competitors this spring. She also joined Journey Mason, Jolene Adu, and Sophia Redmond to finish first in the 4x100 meters, with a time of 49.00, ranked 21st this spring in the nation.
WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Katie Stevens, Christopher Newport
Christopher Newport senior Katie Stevens jumped into the top-10 on the national charts in the hammer throw while also posting a pair of victories for CNU during the Blue & Silver Challenge on Saturday. In the hammer, she uncorked a 50.61-meter heave, which stands ninth in the country and ranks first in the league by over 26 feet. She also moved to the top of the conference leaderboard in two other events after winning the shot put with an 11.67-meter toss before posting a 37.18-meter effort in the discus. Both of those marks rank first among league competitors by over four feet this year.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS
Christopher Newport's Ellie Nuckols recorded the league's fastest time in the 100-hurdles at the Blue & Silver Challenge on Saturday. During the competition, she won the race with a time of 15.66, which ranks first in the league by over a tenth of a second. It also stands as the third-fastest clocking of her career… Salisbury's Karia Forvil was a part of the 4x100-meter team, posting a time of 48.60, which ranks them 28th nationally. Forvil continued her strong day in the 200-meter, earning first place with a time of 25.48, which ranks 70th nationally at the Blue & Silver Challenge. The Sea Gulls took home the top four spots in the 100-meter with Forvil leading the way, claiming first place with a time of 12.36, which places her 60th nationally… Salisbury's Mia Hill posted a jump of 5.57 meters (18-03.25), which earned 1st and ranks No. 7 nationally at the Blue & Silver Challenge.
