Hanzsche, Held named IWLCA National Players of the Week

SALISBURY, Md. – One day after sweeping the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) weekly awards, Mary Hanzsche and Natalie Held were honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as National Players of the Week, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Hanzsche was named the Division III Co-Offensive Player of the Week, while Held received Defensive Player of the Week laurels.

Hanzsche, a senior from Berwyn, Pa., was also named the USA Lacrosse Magazine Division III Player of the Week after logging 10 points across ranked triumphs over fourth-ranked Gettysburg and 16th-ranked Roanoke. She composed arguably her best career performance against the Bullets, taking home career-highs in points (7) and goals (4).

The national accolade is the second of the day for Hanzsche and the second of her Sea Gull career.

Held, a junior from Ellicott City, Md., was pivotal in a pair of defensive masterclasses for the Sea Gulls. As part of a unit that surrendered just 11 goals across the two ranked matchups, Held tallied 10 draw controls, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers.

The week's success helped the Sea Gulls vault to fourth in the latest ILWomen/IWLCA Division III Poll. The national weekly honor is the first of Held's career.

Salisbury returns to the field on Saturday, March 23, traveling to our nation's capital for a neutral-site showdown with 22nd-ranked Chicago on the campus of the Catholic University of America. The matchup is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. on Carlini Field.
