MEDFORD, Mass. – The seventh-ranked Salisbury University women's lacrosse team handed 14th-ranked St. John Fisher their first loss of 2025 on Saturday morning, holding the Cardinals scoreless for over 20 minutes of action to lock down a 10-5 win and their place in tomorrow's Regional Final.
After spotting the Cardinals (19-1, 9-0 E8) an early two-goal lead in the first,
Julianna Ott etched Salisbury's first tally in the period's final minute to bring the game within one.
Avery Dunbar parried a third SJF tally with a wrap-around bouncer before aiding Ott's second strike to tie the battle at three early in the second quarter.
Dunbar snapped a six-minute scoreless struggle with SU's third consecutive goal and her third point of the opening half, giving the Sea Gulls their first lead of the day with just under five minutes to play to send SU to the locker room with a 4-3 edge.
The Sea Gulls (16-4, 2-0 C2C) weathered a yellow card early in the third quarter to keep the momentum in Salisbury's favor, helping
Audrey Harrington find
Miranda Mears on the doorstep just over three minutes later for SU's fifth tally. Dunbar found
Lauren Hackett in the final seconds of the third quarter and again just 34 seconds into the fourth, widening the margin to four, 7-3.
The Cardinals ended a scoring drought of over 20 minutes just over two minutes after Hackett's second score, but late goals from Ott,
Alexandra Parker and
Regan McDonnell helped SU secure the eventual 10-5 victory and a spot in Sunday's regional final against the winner between Tufts and Pomona-Pitzer.
