FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Southern Virginia sophomore outfielder Canon Anderson & Salisbury junior Clayton Dwyer earned CAC baseball weekly awards for March 4, 2019.

Southern Virginia sophomore outfielder Canon Anderson paved the way for the Knights' 2-1 week. He led the team in RBI's batting percentage, hits, and tied for homeruns. In the sweep of Guilford College, he recorded six RBI's while going 6-9 at the plate.

Salisbury junior Clayton Dwyer had a masterful performance on Saturday, pitching a complete game and earning the victory over the No. 15 team in the country, Oswego State University. He struck out 10 batters in the winning effort while allowing zero walks and only one earned run against a team that had advanced to the D-III college World Series only a season ago.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Salisbury's Brandon Bonesteel started at third base for the Sea Gulls in all three of their contests, going 4-for-13 (.308). He led the team with three RBI while also drawing one walk and scoring two runs...Penn State Harrisburg's Miguel Torres had a nice opening week for Penn State Harrisburg both at the plate and in the field. The senior helped lead the Lions to a 2-1-1 record with road victories over Lynchburg and Eastern Mennonite. He slashed .471/.471/.529 with a 1.000 OPS. The 2018 CAC Second-Team All-Conference honoree tallied four RBI, scored five runs, hit one double and stole one base in four games, while also recording three putouts and assisting on 10 more with a perfect fielding percentage from his shortstop position...Mary Washington's Stephen Johnston went 3-8 on the week in three games, with three walks, a single, double, and a grand slam. His grand slam came in a 7-0 win against New Rochelle, a game in which he also pitched two perfect innings of relief with a pair of strikeouts? Senior Hank Biggs shut out New Rochelle for five innings in gaining his first win and start of the season on Saturday, striking out two and walking one. He also pitched a scoreless inning of relief at Va. Wesleyan on Tuesday. For the week, he allowed four hits and no runs in six innings with one walk and three strikeouts...Christopher Newport's Conner Clark reached base in 7 of his 15 plate appearances at the top of the Christopher Newport offense ... Scored three times and drove in five runs ... Also stole three bases...Frostburg State's Mike Livingston picked up his second win of the season on the mound with a 4.0 inning, five strikeout performance in a 10-7 victory over RIT...St. Mary's Jackson Edelman started in two games for the Seahawks this week and pitched a combined 15 innings. The sophomore earned one victory and accumulated an impressive 1.80 ERA. In addition, Edelman recorded five strikeouts and pitched a complete game against McDaniel...Mary Washington's Hank Biggs shut out New Rochelle for five innings in gaining his first win and start of the season on Saturday, striking out two and walking one. He also pitched a scoreless inning of relief at Va. Wesleyan on Tuesday. For the week, he allowed four hits and no runs in six innings with one walk and three strikeouts...Penn State Harrisburg's Travis Van Houten was stellar on the bump in helping secure a victory and a tie due to darkness during Penn State Harrisburg's first week of competition. His first appearance came in tie at Eastern Mennonite, where he threw four innings, surrendered just one earned run and struck out six batters. The junior also got the start and the win in a 5-2 victory at Lynchburg on Saturday, throwing six innings and allowing just three hits with no runs. He also struck out three Hornets. For the week, he posted a 0.90 ERA with nine strikeouts in 10 innings of work. He was also a major contributor at the plate, slashing .313/.333/.563 with a home run, a double and nine RBI in four outings...Christopher Newport's Josh Husby held No. 4 Randolph-Macon to just three hits over six innings of work ... Struck out six and gave up just two runs.
