Stevenson Junior Kara Zimmerman Selected As CAC Field Hockey Player Of The Week

Stevenson junior goalkeeper KARA ZIMMERMAN (Odenton, Md./Arundel) was named the CAC Field Hockey Player of the Week after two strong performances in a regular-season upset victory and a tough playoff loss. Zimmerman totaled 21 saves (.840 percentage) and posted a 1.95 goals against average for the Mustangs. She had 10 saves in a win over Wesley that knocked the Wolverines out of a potential tie for second place in the regular-season standings. She was very active and finished with 11 saves in Sunday’s playoff loss at York, which tied for second place in ther regular-season standings. She finished the season with a career-best 172 saves and boasts a school record 420 career stops.

Salisbury sophomore forward CAITLIN WALKER (Fallston, Md./Fallston) was named the CAC Field Hockey Player of the Week after scoring the first goal of the game in a pair of CAC outings last week, both of which proved to be game-winning scores, that helped the Sea Gulls clinch first place in the CAC standings and top seed for the upcoming conference playoffs. Walker scored the first goal of the match, late in the first half, of a midweek win over Stevenson. Saturday, Walker again scored the first goal and assisted on an insurance goal in Salisbury’s victory over Mary Washington. Walker has three goal this season for the second-ranked Sea Gulls.

York senior goalkeeper CLAIRE REKITZKE (Seaford, Del./Seaford) was named the CAC Field Hockey Player of the Week after recording a pair of victories, including a shutout win at Wesley that lifted the Spartans into a tie for third place with the Wolverines. Rekitzke started the week with four saves in a win over Elizabethtown, then denied Wesley eight times to record her first shutout of the season and fifth of her career. She has career-bests of 1.58 goals against average and 10 wins this season,

Salisbury freshman back EMILY ELLENBERGER (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) was named the CAC Field Hockey Player of the Week after recording two defensive saves in the scoreless first half of Sunday’s 2-0 victory over third-ranked Ursinus.
