St. Mary's Sophomore Brady Wolf and York Senior Katie Petrillo Selected As CAC Field Hockey Players of the Week

YORK, Pa. --  St. Mary's sophomore Brady Wolf and York senior Katie Petrillo have been named the CAC Field Hockey Players of the Week for Oct. 6, 2014. 

Offensive Player of the Week

Brady Wolf | St. Mary's | So. | F

Reisterstown, Md. | McDonogh School     

St. Mary's sophomore Brady Wolf was awarded as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Seahawks to a convincing CAC-opening win over Frostburg State in their only contest of the week. Wolf powered the Seahawks to a 4-1 triumph with a goal and a career-high two assists. 

Defensive Player of the Week

Katie Petrillo | York | Sr. | D

Howell, N.J. | Freehold Township  

York senior Katie Petrillo earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades after spearheading the Spartans upset of #15 Christopher Newport on Saturday in York. Petrillo captained a defense that kept the Captains off the board in the conference-opening win for York. Petrillo recorded a pair of defensive saves with one coming in each half. She thwarted a number of possible chances with timely clears and strong defensive play in the win. Petrillo now has a team-high five defensive saves for the Spartans.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE 

Salisbury took over the #1 spot in last week's NFHCA National Rankings. Christopher Newport is ranked #15 and Mary Washington #18  ... Mary Washington dropped a 3-2 decision to #13 Messiah in its third contest against a nationally-ranked team this month, but rebounded to top Wesley in the CAC opener as five different players scored goals in a 5-0 shutout win ... York upended Christopher Newport 1-0 on Saturday, handing the Captains their first ever CAC loss. York freshman goalkeeper Jessica Everett made a career-high 12 saves in the win, while freshman Ali Posey scored her 10th goal of the year to propel the Spartans to the victory.
