YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington senior Jenna Steele and Christopher Newport junior Bailey Lien were named the CAC Field Hockey Players of the Week for Sept. 28, 2015. 

Offensive Player of the Week

Mary Washington senior Jenna Steele was named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after notching two goals and an assist in the only contest for the 14th-ranked Eagles last week. Steele recorded two of UMW's first three scores in a 7-0 victory over Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, assisting on another first-half tally to help the Eagles jump up to an early advantage. Her two goals moved her career total to 53, second most in school history. 

Defensive Player of the Week

Christopher Newport junior Bailey Lien was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Captains register three shutouts last week, including a pair of solo efforts. Lien capped off her week with a season-high seven saves on Saturday in a 2-0 victory over Rhodes, who entered the contest ranked first in the NCAA with a 6.29 goals-per-game average. She also added three stops during a 2-0 triumph over Randolph-Macon on Wednesday. Lien earned victories in all three games last week, bumping her career total to 34, which now stands as the most in program history.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE 

Salisbury is ranked No. 3 in the Penn Monto / National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll, with Mary Washington (No. 14) and Christopher Newport (No. 16) also in the top 20 ... CNU has now shut out four consecutive opponents, marking the program's longest run since the 2007 squad blanked eight straight teams ... Alexandra Darrow continues to be on fire for Frostburg State as she scored three more goals on the week, pushing her goal streak to seven games. Darrow opened the week with both goals in Frostburg's 2-1 win double OT win over Washington & Jefferson, and added the Bobcats' only goal in a 2-1 loss at Bridgewater ... St. Mary's outscored its opponents last week by a 13-4 margin. Megan Moore collected her first career hat trick and added an assist in St. Mary's 10-1 rout at Eastern Mennonite ... Sam Johnson was an offensive force in Salisbury's 4-0 win against Johns Hopkins on Wednesday, scoring the game winner just a few minutes into the game before notching a pair of assists later. The No. 3 Sea Gulls dropped a 3-2 double overtime tilt at No. 1 TCNJ on Saturday ... Wesley's Morgan Seymour posted three defensive saves against Washington College ... York's Ali Posey had another big week as the Spartans went 1-1 with a 6-5 mid-week win over McDaniel and a 5-2 loss to Lynchburg on Saturday. Posey totaled three goals and an assist for the week, and now has 11 goals and three assists for a team-high 25 points this season for the Spartans.
