Senior guard Alex Franz picked up his second all-region selection of the week as Franz earned National Association of Basketball Coaches first team All-Middle Atlantic Region honors as announced Wednesday. This is the second consecutive season that the 6-1 team captain has garnered NABC all-region honors after making the second team last year.

St. Mary’s senior guard Alex Franz has been a leading member of Seahawk teams that have won three-straight CAC regular-season titles as well as three playoff crowns and NCAA Tournament appearances in the last four years. This year, the coaches selected Franz to the first-team All-CAC squad for the third-straight year and added the honor of 2011 Men’s Basketball Player of the Year. Teammate Christian MacAuley was named the 2011 Rookie of the Year while SMC's Chris Harney and Wesley's Jerry Kobasa were tabbed as the Co-Coaches of the Year.
