Salisbury Junior Forward Wyatt Smith Named CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury junior Wyatt Smith was selected as the CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 16, 2015.

Salisbury junior forward Wyatt Smith was named the CAC Player of the Week after averaging a double-double with 16.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game while shooting 61.1% from the floor in a 2-0 week for the Sea Gulls. In the win over Wesley, Smith tallied 17 points and season-highs of 14 rebounds and five blocks. Against Frostburg State, he netted 16 points and shot 75% from the floor. Smith and the Sea Gulls have now won five straight, and have climbed into a three-way tie for second place in the CAC.

Just one week remains in the CAC regular season ... First-place St. Mary's (14-2) maintains a two-game lead over Christopher Newport (12-4), Marymount (12-4) and Salisbury (12-4) with two games to play. All four have secured playoff spots, with the final two bids still up for grabs ... In the first NCAA Regional Rankings of the season released last week, St. Mary's was ranked sixth in the Middle Atlantic Region ... Senior Taylor Johnson led Mary Washington with 18.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game last week, while freshman Eric Shaw added 19.5 PPG, including 23 against CNU ... St. Mary's 10th-year head coach Chris Harney collected his 200th career victory Saturday afternoon against Wesley. Already the school's all-time winningest coach, Harney owns a 200-78 record at St. Mary's. Troy Spurrier paced the Seahawks off the bench in the Wesley win with a career and game-best 25 points, six rebounds and career-best four assists. Nicholas LaGuerre averaged 19.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.3 steals on the week for St. Mary's ... Southern Virginia has won three straight games, their first winning streak of the season. Kevin Walker was a crucial part of wins, leading the Knights with 16.0 points, 7.5 assists and 4.5 steals per game last week.
