FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Penn State Harrisburg junior Gbolahan Alliyu was selected as the CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 20, 2017.

Penn State Harrisburg junior center Gbolahan Alliyu was selected as the CAC Player of the Week after averaging 12.3 points, 15.3 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per contest in a 3-0 week for the Lions. Alliyu helped Penn State Harrisburg to a 3-0 start by defeating Haverford, Immaculata, and Mount Union and was named the MVP of the Penn State Harrisburg Tip-Off tournament. He posted double-doubles in both tournament wins, including an 18-point, 18-rebound, 8-block performance against Immaculata in the tournament opener. He shot 56.7% (17-for-30) from the floor for the week.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All 10 CAC men's basketball teams opened up the 2017-18 campaign this past week ... Six CAC teams raced out to unbeaten records last week, including four that won tournament titles ... In the preseason national rankings, Christopher Newport is ranked No. 14 by D3hoops.com ... CNU started the year 3-0 ... Aaron McFarland was named MVP of the Rotary of Frederick's Holiday Classic hosted by Hood College. He matched his career-high with 27 points against Catholic in his season debut, and averaged 22 points and 5 rebounds in two wins while shooting .556 (15-for-27) ... Frostburg State senior Tyler Michael earned all-tournament honors at the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Memorial Tournament at Case Western after scoring 59 points in two games. He poured in a career-high 34 points in the opener and surpassed 1,000 career points against Case Western ... Eric Shaw led Mary Washington to an undefeated week and the championship of the Hyatt Place Tipoff Tournament, gaining Most Valuable Player honors. He scored 16 points in an 86-85 overtime win at Eastern Mennonite in the opener to go with 13 rebounds. He then added 15 points and 11 rebounds as Mary Washington topped Randolph on Saturday. He capped the week with 13 points and eight rebounds, becoming the 20th player in school history to eclipse 1,000 career points, as UMW defeated Denison, 70-57 to improve to 3-0 ... Marymount freshman Steve Etienne was named to the All-Tournament team of the Saints' Fifth Annual Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament this past weekend after totaling 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals through the two games ... Spencer Schultz led St. Mary's in a 1-2 week by averaging 15.3 points and 8.3 rebounds. Schultz had his best performances coming off the bench, scoring in double-figures both times. In his first game as a Seahawk, he registered a double-double on 15 points and season-best 10 rebounds in the win over Gallaudet. Schultz then tallied season-highs of 23 points and three assists against Lynchburg ... Salisbury freshman Gary Briddell scored 24 points this week including a career-high 20 points against Goucher College on Saturday. Briddell finished that game 6-of-9 from the field including another team-best 4-of-6 from behind the three-point arc. He currently ranks second on the team with an 80.0% 3-Pt. percentage while ranking fourth on the team in over shooting percentage with a mark of 61.5% ... Southern Virginia started the year 3-0. Senior Cale Thornton recorded a double-double in season opener against Shenandoah, and pulled down 10 boards over Penn St. Mont Alto. He ranks second in the CAC with 12.0 rebounds per contest in his two games played ... Sophomore guard Brian Cameron totaled 54 points in Wesley's season-opening week, including tallying a game-high 30 points against the Delaware Blue Hens. Cameron shot 51.4 percent from the field and knocked down five three pointers. He also recorded 13 rebounds and three steals ... York senior forward Blayde Reich led the Spartans to the tournament championship of the Hilton Scranton Invitational this weekend in Scranton, Pa. Reich opened the season with 10 points and six rebounds in just 14 minutes of play in the Spartans' lopsided win over Pitt-Bradford. Reich then had a huge game in the championship game win over No. 24 Scranton with a game-high 28 points in 31 minutes of action. He scored nine of the Spartans first 12 points over the first 4:05 of the game as York sprinted out to the early lead. Reich added nine rebounds, two blocked shots and one assist in the victory en route to earning the tournament MVP award. For the weekend, Reich averaged 19 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals, 1.0 blocks and 1.5 assists per game as he shot 62.5% from the floor and 87.5% from the line. Reich also went over the 700 career point mark in Saturday's win.
