FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --Babson junior Chris Bornhorst earned CAC Golfer of the Week awards for April 16, 2019.

Babson junior Chris Bornhorst carded back-to-back rounds of 1-over 72 to finish in a tie for fifth position at 2-over 144 at the Tim Brown Invitational at Ballston Spa CC last weekend. He made three birdies and four bogeys in each round and lowered his season scoring average to 73.88 as the Beavers saw their four-tournament winning streak come to an end with a sixth-place finish despite posting a team total of 593. This marks the second CAC honor this season for Bornhorst.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

New Jersey City's Dan Gaul finished 16th overall in a field of 101 golfers to lead NJCU to its best performance of the season and a par-72 school record at the 36-hole Rosemont Raven Invitational at the Downingtown, Country Club in Downingtown, Pa. Gaul shot an opening round 77 (+5) on the par-72 course and followed that with a +4 round of 76 for a 36-hole score of 153. Gaul fired six birdies in the tournament---two in the first round on April 13 and four more in the second round and he only had two double bogeys the entire tournament.Behind their junior three-year captain, NJCU shot a 321 in the second round after an opening-day 339. The 321 score was lowest par-72 score in school history and the third lowest round in the nine-year history of the program (313 and 318, both on par-71 course). Meanwhile, the 660 is a 36-round program record...Christopher Newport's David Rabil tied for 10th in the Gold Championship at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate with a four-over 218 in the 54-hole tournament. He fired a one-over 73 in the opening round, two-under 68 on the Scarlet Course on day two, and a five-over 77 in the final round. It was his third top-ten finish of the year in six events played. Lowered his season average to 73.6 while leading CNU to 7th place finish as a team...Southern Virginia's Nathan Ouimette finished second at the Elizabethtown Spring Invitational after shooting a 69 on the day guiding the Knights to a second-place overall finish...Mary Washington's Phillip Manceri shot a 76 on Sunday to end with the Eagles' best score at the Camp Lejeune Collegiate Invitational, at 218.
