FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- York junior Thomas Pfeiffer and Wesley senior Zach Darnell earned CAC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week awards for Feb. 26, 2018.  

Offensive Player of the Week

York junior Thomas Pfeiffer was chosen as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after tallying five goals and four assists in a 16-8 win over McDaniel on Saturday. Pfeiffer scored his five goals on just six shots for a shooting percentage of 83.3%. He also notched two ground balls in the win. 

 

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Wesley senior Zach Darnell was selected as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after causing six turnovers and picking up four ground balls in the Wolverines' 15-3 win over Rosemont. Darnell and the Wolverine defense limited Rosemont to just 14 shots throughout the game.

Salisbury is ranked No. 1 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) rankings, while York is ranked No. 5 and Christopher Newport is No. 20 ... CNU freshman Dylan Rice led the Captains with 12 points during the week after registering six goals and six assists in wins over Randolph-Macon and Hampden-Sydney. Jake O'Connell totaled four caused turnovers and 12 ground balls for the Captains last week ... Frostburg State sophomore Paul Ruppert scored three goals in the Bobcats' 20-9 loss to No. 11 Franklin & Marshall ... Senior Owen Dingman led Mary Washington to an 11-6 win at Ursinus on Saturday, scoring four goals and adding one assist. He also tied for the team lead with five ground balls as the Eagles improved to 3-1 on the season ... Marymount freshman Clark Akers had a strong day offensively on Saturday at Bridgewater, putting away a team-high six points off four goals and two assists, all three of which are career highs through his first three collegiate games ... St. Mary's Conner Campbell forced a career- and game-best seven Elizabethtown turnovers and scooped up four ground balls in St. Mary's lone game of the week. Ben Claffee put up season-bests of two goals and three points to lead St. Mary's attack ... Salisbury goalkeeper Anthony Stavrakis recorded a season-high 11 saves in a double-overtime loss at No. 13 Gettysburg this weekend. Zach Pompea netted two goals on four shots for the Sea Gulls, and also tallied two assists for a team-high four points in the loss ... Southern Virginia sophomore Shawn Lamb led the Knights with two goals and two assists in a win over Guilford, giving the Knights' their third straight win. He leads the team in assists (9) and shots (29) and is third with eight goals this season ... Joe Fingles netted four goals and tallied three assists in Wesley's 15-3 win over Rosemont. Fingles also recorded six ground balls and caused a turnover in the win.
