YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury senior Matt Greene and Frostburg State freshman Carlos Caro were named the CAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week for Sept. 21, 2015.  

Offensive Player of the Week

Salisbury senior Matt Greene was honored as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Sea Gulls to a 2-0 week with a goal in each contest. Greene's first score of the week came on a penalty kick in Salisbury's 3-2 triumph over Washington College last Wednesday. Against Neumann on Saturday, Greene tallied the game's lone score as the Sea Gulls posted a 1-0 victory to improve to 5-1 on the year.

Frostburg State freshman Carlos Caro was picked as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after stopping five shots in his first collegiate start as he and the Bobcats earned a 2-0 shutout win over Washington & Jefferson on Saturday in their lone contest of the week.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

CAC play opens up next Saturday, Sept. 26 with a full slate of five contests across the conference ... Christopher Newport is the lone CAC team ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Rankings at No. 7 in the nation ... In the D3soccer.com rankings, CNU is No. 5 and Salisbury is No. 19 ... Christopher Newport's Harry Nodwell scored the game-winning goal in double overtime against Greensboro, leading CNU to their third come-from-behind victory this season. Goalkeeper Nolan Mann allowed just one goal in over 193 minutes of action last week, making three saves to pick up a pair of wins. Mann has played every second of CNU's unbeaten eight-game streak to start the season, posting five shutouts with a 0.70 goals against average. CNU remains unbeaten with a 7-0-1 overall record and will close non-conference action against Lynchburg on Wednesday. The Captains are now 3-0-1 in four overtime games this season ... Junior Guy Cross scored a pair of goals on two shots as Mary Washington topped Roanoke, 3-0, on Saturday to improve to 7-1 on the season. Cross finished a score on an indirect kick and then finished a penalty kick, as the Eagles tied their best start since 2006... Sophomore Matt Spencer continued his hot goalkeeping this season, recording his fifth and sixth shutouts as Mary Washington shut out NC Wesleyan and Roanoke. He registered two saves against the Bishops, and three more on Saturday against Roanoke ... Sunny Chhatani netted the game-winning goal in St. Mary's only contest of the week, a 5-1 win over McDaniel. Andrew Battin tallied a goal and assist for the Seahawks ... Wesley defender R.J. Dina registered the Wolverines lone goal in a 3-1 loss to Widener last Wednesday ... York goalkeeper Charlie Johnson had a career-high 11 saves in the Spartans' 1-0 loss to Johns Hopkins on Wednesday. The Spartans and Blue Jays played their 10th straight game in which the victor won by a one goal margin.
