FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Penn State Harrisburg senior Chase Vilga and St. Mary's sophomore Patrick Paolini were named the CAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week for Sept. 5, 2017.   

Offensive Player of the Week

Penn State Harrisburg senior Chase Vilga earned Offensive Player of the Week accolades after tallying three goals and an assist in a 3-0 week for the Lions. Vilga scored once in each game and added one assist in victories over Ramapo, Pitt Bradford and Medgar Evans. His goal against Ramapo in the 53rd minute proved to be the game-winner. 

  

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Gaithersburg, Md. | Quince Orchard 

St. Mary's sophomore Patrick Paolini was selected as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after collecting a career-best four saves in a 2-0 win over Capital. The victory was Paolini's first career solo shutout.

Christopher Newport is ranked No. 21 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason National Rankings ... CNU senior Jimmy Grace factored into four goals in a 10-0 win over Regent University. Grace scored two goals and chipped in two assists for six total points ... Frostburg State junior Brett Basham helped secure a Bobcat defense that allowed just one goal in two games at the FSU Tournament. He garnered all-tournament honors as FSU opened with a 0-1-1 mark. Sophomores K.J. Davis and Matt Morris also picked up all-tournament honors ... Mary Washington split its opening two games, topping Methodist, 3-0, before falling to #11 Messiah, 3-1, at the UMW Kickoff Classic ... Marymount sophomore goalkeeper John Valcicak posted a new career high between the posts on Saturday to kick off his second year as the starting keeper for Marymount, turning away a career-best nine shots through his 90 minutes of work. His nine saves places him second in the league through the first weekend of play ... Salisbury defender Michael Kramer helped anchor defense that only gave up two goals (one on penalty kick) in two games ... Southern Virginia senior Marrrott Weekes scored one of the Knights' two goals in a loss at Shenandoah, and led the squad with five shots ... Wesley freshman Darius-David Robinson netted his first two collegiate goals against Virginia Wesleyan at the Yellow Jacket Classic. Goalkeeper Kyle Springsteen made eight saves in two games in goal at the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jacket Classic ... York freshman Zion Friday made an immediate impact for the Spartan men's soccer squad as he was named the MVP of the Turk Emekli DC Classic this weekend in Washington, DC. The Spartans went 2-0 as they defeated Carroll (Wisc.) 4-2 and the host Cardinals 5-2 to earn the tournament title. Sophomore Brook Addisu scored twice and spearheaded a defense that allowed just eight shots on goal in the two games for the weekend.
