Greg Doyle Named York College Swimming Coach and Aquatics Director

York College Assistant Dean for Athletics and Recreation Paul Saikia has announced that Greg Doyle has been hired as the new head swimming coach and aquatics director after a national search.

Doyle replaces former head coach Erin Kurtz who left the program in September to pursue other professional opportunities.

Doyle comes to the Spartan program after serving as Limestone College's head swim coach the last three years. Limestone is a Division II school in Gaffney, South Carolina. He has guided the Saints to 50 All-American performances and 28 separate school records while at the helm of the program. His Limestone teams have also performed well in the classroom as they both earned the CSCAA Team Scholar Award three times each.

He will be responsible for the direction of the Spartans' men's and women's swim teams and programing for the York College Natatorium.

Doyle brings extensive coaching experience to the Spartan program. Prior to his tenure at Limestone, he coached at Division III Washington & Lee for one season. He was responsible for developing workouts, stroke analysis, meet preparations and fundraising. Doyle also developed strength and conditioning programs for his swimmers.

Before his stay at W&L, Doyle was an assistant at SUNY-New Paltz. He was responsible for all aspects of the Division III program. While at New Paltz, Doyle coached a team that established nine new school records in his one year on the staff.

Doyle began his coaching career as an assistant coach for the Kingston Hurricanes Swim Club in Kingston, New York from 2007-2011.

During his collegiate career at SUNY Oswego, Doyle was a two-year captain for the Lakers. He was a three-time All-American and earned a berth in the NCAA Division III Championships in 2006, 2007, and 2008. He still holds Oswego records for the 50 free, the 100 free, the 200 free, and the 500 free while he is also a part of the 200 medley relay and the 800 free relay teams that hold the Laker school records.

Doyle was also the SUNYAC (State University of New York Athletic Conference) Outstanding Male Swimmer of the Meet in 2006, 2007, and 2008.

Doyle was a four-time All-SUNYAC performer, garnering first-team honors in his final three seasons after earning second-team recognition as a freshman in 2005. Additionally, Doyle was named Oswego's Outstanding Senior Athlete in 2008, a College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American and Oswego President's List honoree in 2006. He was also named to the SUNYAC All-Academic Team in 2006 and 2008.

Doyle holds a certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), is a certified American Red Cross Life Guard and Life Guard instructor, First Aid Instructor and possesses lifeguard training and CPR at the professional rescuer level.

A 2008 graduate of SUNY Oswego, Doyle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Justice with a minor in Athletic Coaching. He and his wife, Stephanie, have one son, Rylan, who born in 2013.

Doyle is expected to begin his tenure at York prior to the Dickinson meet on November 21.
