Salisbury freshman Stefan Hein earned CAC Player of the Week accolades after posting a 2-0 mark in singles play last week, including a win over the 47th-ranked player in the nation from Johns Hopkins. Against Hopkins, Hein played at the No. 3 singles spot and won 0-6, 6-4, 10-6 against Cody Kim, who is ranked No. 47 nationally and No. 10 in the Atlantic South region. Hein also contributed a singles point in the Sea Gulls' 8-1 CAC victory over Frostburg State, earning a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.

All eight CAC teams have now opened their spring 2018 campaigns ... Christopher Newport is currently on its spring break trip to California. Junior Nick Ruzicka defeated nationally-ranked Avinash Vemuri of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the Captains' 7-2 defeat to the second-ranked team in the nation ... Frostburg State sophomore Nolan Jones and junior Shasta Braithwaite earned a 9-8 (7-1) win in No. 1 doubles against Salisbury ... Junior Patrick Hughes led No. 16 Mary Washington to a pair of wins in California to keep the Eagles undefeated on the season. He gained a singles win at two, 6-2, 6-3, and a doubles win at two doubles, 8-6, in a 7-2 win over Cal Tech, and then later in the day gained a three set-win at two singles and an 8-6 win at three doubles to complete a 9-0 win over Whittier ... Penn State Harrisburg began its spring season on Sunday in Hilton Head, S.C., and will continue its spring break trip this week ... York also opened its spring campaign last week in Hilton Head.
