YORK, Pa. -- Penn State Harrisburg sophomore Joey Phifer and Christopher Newport junior Dominique Torres were named the CAC Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for Jan. 20, 2015.

Penn State Harrisburg sophomore Joey Phifer was named the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after claiming first place in the 800 meters at the Susquehanna Orange and Maroon Classic on Saturday. Phifer crossed the line with a time of 2:00.06, which ranks atop the CAC so far this season.

Christopher Newport junior Dominique Torres earned CAC Field Athlete of the Week accolades after winning the triple jump at the Liberty Open last Saturday with one of the top marks in the nation. Torres captured gold in the triple jump with a leap of 47'-1", which ranks fourth in the nation so far this year. Additionally, the 2014 All-American also came in fourth in the long jump with a distance of 21'-8.75". That performance stands 29th in the NCAA this season.

Five CAC teams opened up the 2015 portion of their indoor seasons last weekend ... Christopher Newport's Zachary Campbell won the 1,000 meters at the Liberty Open with a time of 2:33.06 on Saturday, which established a new PR. He also set a new PR during his leg of the 4x800-relay on Friday with a split of 1:58.07, which helped the relay squad finish third at the meet with a total clocking of 8:14.62 ... J.R. Lowery posted a win in the shot put (47'-8") and a runner-up in the weight throw (50') at the Susquehanna Orange & Maroon Classic ... Mary Washington sophomore Ben Sorensen placed second in the 5,000 meters at the Maryland Terrapin Invitational with a time of 15:22 in the Eagles' first meet of the season, while senior Nick Judy finished second in the pole vault with a leap of 14'-3.25" ... York's Darnell Tillman won the 400 with a time of 50.66 at Susquehanna.
