FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Frostburg State sophomore Victoria Diggs was tabbed as CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 20, 2017.

Frostburg State sophomore Victoria Diggs was tabbed as the CAC Player of the Week after averaging 22.3 points, 4.0 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per contest in a 2-1 week for the Bobcats. Diggs earned MVP honors at the 15th Annual Jim Crawley Tournament, leading the Bobcats to the tournament title. In an 83-79 overtime victory over Rutgers-Camden in the championship game, Diggs notched a double-double with 21 points and 10 assists while drilling five three-pointers. Trailing by three points with time winding down in regulation, Diggs drained the game-tying three-pointer with five ticks on the clock to force overtime. For the week, she shot 49% (25-for-51) from the floor, 100% (7-for-7) from the free throw line and drained 3.3 three-pointers per contest.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All 10 CAC women's basketball teams opened their seasons this past week ... York (3-0), Christopher Newport (3-0) and Southern Virginia (2-0) opened up the year with unbeaten records ... Christopher Newport, Marymount, and Mary Washington are ranked in the preseason national polls ... CNU is ranked No. 2 by both the Women's Basketball Coaches of America (WBCA) and D3hoops.com, UMW is ranked No. 21 by the WBCA and No. 24 by D3hoops.com, and Marymount is No. 14 in the D3hoops.com poll and receiving votes from the WBCA ... CNU senior Sam Porter averaged a team-high 10.3 points per game with 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals in three wins to start the season. CNU won the McDaniel Tip-Off Tournament ... Mary Washington senior guard Kendall Parker was named to the Hyatt Place Tipoff Tournament all-tournament team this weekend after averaging 17.0 PPG in the Eagles' two contests. She made 7-of-16 three pointers and 9-of-10 free throws over the weekend for the Eagles ... Marymount junior Tyffani McQueen guided the Saints to their second-straight Tip-Off Championship on Sunday, as Marymount won the Johns Hopkins Tip-Off Tournament after topping the host Blue Jays, 70-56. McQueen, who posted 31 points on 58-percent shooting, while adding five rebounds, five assists and four steals, was named the Tournament MVP ... She averaged 15.5 points for the tournament, while setting a career high on Sunday with 17 points. Regan Lohr was named to the All-Tournament team for the Saints, as she currently sits fourth in the CAC in scoring with 15 PPG through the first week ... St. Mary's senior Kerri Kline became the 11th Seahawk in the history of the women's basketball program to join the 1,000-point club with her last basket in a two-point win over Washington College. Kline now has 1,002 career points. She notched season-bests of 20 points and seven rebounds in a loss to Hood and then drained a season-best four three-pointers against Washington College ... Southern Virginia senior Shelby Butler led the Knights with 18 points in each contest this week (third in CAC), and also totaled 11 rebounds to help the Knights get off to a 2-0 start to the season ... Salisbury junior Megan Konig led the Sea Gulls in scoring in two out of Salisbury's first three games, averaging 13.0 points per game. Konig also contributed 4.7 rebounds per game and 1.7 assists per game ... York junior forward Katie McGowan had a big week in leading the Spartans to a 3-0 start to their campaign. McGowan began the week with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists in the 67-61 win over McDaniel College on Wednesday night in York. In the Spartans' narrow 65-62 win over TCNJ in the opening round of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, McGowan had 11 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. She added two assists and a steal in the victory. In York's championship rout of Rowan, McGowan had 14 points, nine rebounds, two assists and a steal in the win. For the week, McGowan averaged 13 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.0 steals per game in 25.3 minutes per contest. She shot 41% from the floor and 75% from the line.
