Wesley Freshman Janiah Moore and Christopher Newport Junior Haley Casanova Named CAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week
YORK, Pa. -- Wesley freshman Janiah Moore and Christopher Newport junior Haley Casanova were honored as the CAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week for Sept. 8, 2015.

Wesley freshman Janiah Moore was named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after exploding onto the scene in her collegiate debut last week with four goals and one assist in a 1-0-1 start for the Wolverines. Moore opened her career in impressive fashion, scoring four times and dishing out an assist in a 5-1 season-opening triumph over Cairn. Moore and Wolverines then tied Goucher 1-1 to close out the week.

Christopher Newport goalkeeper Haley Casanova was selected as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after allowing just one goal and stopping 13 shots in a 2-0-1 week for the Captains. Casanova started all three games and played every minute of the first week, registering a pair of shutouts against Randolph-Macon and Carthage with four and two saves, respectively. She also held one of the region's top offenses from 2014 in check to the tune of just one goal against Berry, making a season-high seven saves in the 1-1 tie.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Christopher Newport played in the Atlantic Orthopedic Specialists Classic last weekend, hosted by Virginia Wesleyan. Rookie Kayla Locklear connected on her first collegiate goal, and sophomore Kaylie Deshler added two scores against Carthage. Victoria Perry scored in two out of three games last week, including the game-winner against Randolph-Macon ... Frostburg State senior Brooke Longo registered a point in all three games last week as the Bobcats went 2-1. She scored two goals and handed out two assists ... Mary Washington freshman goalie Haley Randall allowed one goal in her first two games in net, making four saves in 160 minutes of action. The Eagles scored six goals this week, all by different players ... Kirsten Campbell guided Marymount to a 2-0 start to open the season, before falling to Ferrum on the final day of the SVU Classic. Campbell scored both goals in a 2-0 season-opening victory over Eastern Mennonite, and also scored in the Saints 2-1 win against Emory & Henry. With the three goals, she has almost doubled her collegiate career total through two games this season. Senior goalkeeper Erin Harris turned away a career-high nine shots against Ferrum ... Salisbury went 2-1 last week with shutout wins over Stockton and Eastern Mennonite. Victoria Luc scored four goals for the week with two against Washington & Lee and two against Eastern Mennonite ... Sophomore Corie Elliott led the York attack with two of the Spartans' four goals for the week, netting the second and third goals of the game as the Spartans defeated Alvernia 3-0 in Sunday's second round of the JHU Blue Jay Classic in Baltimore, Md.
