FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Christopher Newport sophomore Carson Pokorny and senior Danielle Pratt swept CAC Women's Soccer weekly awards for Sept. 18, 2017.   

Offensive Player of the Week

Christopher Newport sophomore Carson Pokorny received CAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling three goals and one assist in wins over Emory and Berry last week. Pokorny scored the game-winning goal in overtime against nationally-ranked Emory and also scored twice and had an assist to take part in all three goals against Berry. She factored into four of CNU's five goals this week as she helped the Captains remain unbeaten on the year (6-0-1). 

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Christopher Newport senior Danielle Pratt nabbed CAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades after helping the Captains' defense limit its two opponents to just one goal on the week. She helped secure a shutout against Berry, allowing the Vikings to take just three total shots in the contest. Pratt also scored the game's first goal in the Captains' win over Emory.

Christopher Newport is ranked in both national polls. The Captains are No. 7 in the D3soccer.com rankings and No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches poll ... CNU has posted the second best start through seven games in program history behind only an 8-0-0 record in 2000 ... Mary Washington junior Lauren Brower scored the game-winning goal in a 3-1 Eagle win at Goucher on Saturday, as the Eagles improved to 11-0 all time against the Gophers ... Marymount freshman Emma Buck adjusted from her usual field position on Saturday against Hood to switching up jerseys and playing between the pipes for the first time in her career. In her first collegiate start, she turned away three shots in her 90 minutes of work ... Salisbury senior Ruthie Lucas scored twice in Saturday's contest against Catholic. Both goals were unassisted and scored from outside of the box. A senior, Lucas led the Sea Gulls in goals and points in 2016 ... Southern Virginia freshman Alli Rigby scored four goals last week, including the Knights only goal in draw against Averett. Rigby leads the Knights in goals and points ... Wesley's Krista Salvadore paced the Wolverines defense during their two games when she stopped 34 shots in net ... York feshman Jess Wieber picked up her first collegiate shutout with the 0-0 tie at Washington & Lee on Saturday in Lynchburg. Wieber made a six saves in the dual with the Generals, tying her career high.
