Junior Sarah Crockett Leads Strong Mary Washington Performance On Day 2 At NCAA Swim Championships

The University of Mary Washington swimming teams saw four All-America performances at Day 2 of the NCAA Division III National Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center on Thursday night.

The Eagle women had a big day.  Individually, Sarah Crockett finished 13th in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.80, after going 1:51.55 in prelims to gain All-America honors for the fourth time this year. In other action on Thursday, freshman Cameron Figuers took 29th in the 400 IM at 4:39.19 and Nina Sawyer placed 17th in the 100 yard butterfly at 57.19.

Two UMW relay teams earned All-America recognition.  The 200 yard free relay finished 15th in the finals with a time of 1:37.24. That relay consisted of Crockett, Figuers, Sawyer and Adriana Lesiuk. The 400 medley relay finished in seventh place in gaining All-America honors and finishing with a time of 3:54.47. Crockett, Megan DeSmit, Sawyer and Lesiuk competed on that relay.

Also in the 400 IM, St. Mary's freshman Kelly Heyde placed 25th in the morning trials (4:37.19).  The Seahawks also received a 20th-place performance from senior Rachel Hotchko in the 100 butterfly (57.38). 

For the men, junior Stephen Clendenin finished in 16th place in the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 4:01.91, after swimming 4:00.60 in the morning preliminaries. Also in the prelims, freshman Nick Eckhoff placed 26th at 4:10.29.
