Marymount’s Anna Macedonia Places 14th in 100 Backstroke at NCAA Championships

Marymount University senior Anna Macedonia placed 14th overall in the 100 Backstroke at the NCAA Division III Women’s Swimming Championships on Friday.

Macedonia posted a time of 56.93 to earn Honorable Mention All-America accolades in the event for the second-straight year.  In the preliminaries, Macedonia set her own Saints program record with a 56.48 to qualify for the consolation heat.

In other women's races Friday, St. Mary's junior Kelly Heyde was 22nd in the morning trials of the 200 butterfly.  Her time of 2:09.24 missed qualifying for the evening championship races by just under three seconds.  Heyde's qualifying time was 2:07.42.

Mary Washington's Megan DeSmit and Amber Kerico competed in the 100 breaststroke, but did not qualify for the evening championship races.  DeSmit finished 24th out of 31 finishers (1:06.69), one place ahead of teammate Kerico (1:06.82).
