Mary Washington Wins 25th Straight CAC Women's Swimming Championship; UMW's Hallock Earns Swimmer of the Year Honors

Mary Washington captured the CAC Women's Swimming Championship for a record 25th straight time on Sunday at St. Mary's, totaling 944 points throughout the three-day event to run away with the title. 

The Eagles won 16 of 18 events and totaled 944 points to earn the team crown, becoming the only team across all CAC sports to have won the team championship in each of the 25 years of the CAC's existence. Marymount placed second with 492 points, followed by St. Mary's (469), Salisbury (433), York (371) and Frostburg State (240). 

UMW swept the major championship awards, with junior Stephanie Hallock earning Swimmer of the Year honors, Megan Murphy taking Rookie of the Year, and head coach Abby Brethauer claiming Coach of the Year for the third straight season. 

Hallock capped off her championship by winning the 100 freestyle in a meet record time of 51.99 and leading off the 400 freestyle relay (3:34.05) along with Shannon Coryell, Katie Fago and Anna Corley. Hallock totaled seven golds throughout the weekend, three individually and three on relay squads. 

Murphy touched first in the 200 butterfly at 2:08.27 to collect her third gold of the championship meet, while other UMW winners on Sunday included Maddie Carinci in the 1650 freestyle (17:57.74) and Corley in the 200 backstroke (2:07.02)

St. Mary's senior Brooke Raab registered her second gold medal of the meet on Sunday, taking first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:22.62 after claiming the 100 breaststroke title on Saturday.
