Mary Washington, Marymount and Marymount Women's Swimming Teams Capture CAC Wins

Mary Washington topped St. Mary's in a battle of the previously-unbeaten teams in CAC action, while Marymount and York also picked up women's swimming conference wins over the weekend. 

In St. Mary's City, Md., Mary Washington took over first place in the CAC standings with a 131-74 win over St. Mary's. The Eagles improved to 6-2, 3-0 while the Seahawks are now 10-3, 3-1. Leading the Eagles individually were Anna Corley in the 200 freestyle (2:01.14), Steph Hallock in the 50 freestyle (25.62), Megan Murphy in the 400 IM (4:43.67), Shannon Coryell in the 100 free (55.46), Robin Brazier in the 200 backstroke (2:14.57) and Alex Parrish in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.36). 

St. Mary's junior Cara Machlin picked up gold medals in the 1,000 and 500 freestyle events to pace the Seahawks. 

York split a pair of results in Saturday's tri-meet at Frostburg State. The Spartans earned a 65-30 CAC win over Frostburg State and dropped a narrow 48-47 non-conference decision to Randolph-Macon. York is now 4-8, 1-3 CAC following the weekend action. Brianna Blackwell and Kacey Banks earned wins for the Spartans. Blackwell touched first in the 800 free in 10:18.38, while Banks won the 400 IM at 5:39.13. Macey Nitchie prevailed for the Bobcats in the 100-meter freestyle (1:02.04), and the 50-meter freestyle (28.03).

Marymount took down visiting Salisbury 121-84 in Arlington, Va., led by a pair of victories from Claire Thomas. Salisbury junior Nicki Schultz captured three individual victories for the Sea Gulls. 

A trio of non-conference meets took place on Friday, with Johns Hopkins defeating St. Mary's 119-63 and York defeating both Gallaudet (126-47) and Penn State Altoona (115-57).
