Mary Washington Women's Swimming Takes Home 27th Consecutive CAC Women's Swimming Title; Frostburg State's Macey Nitchie Collects Swimmer of the Year Honors

The Mary Washington women's swimming team continued its record winning streak at CAC Championships with its 27th straight title on Saturday at St. Mary's. The Eagles are the only team have ever won the title in the 27-year history of the CAC, the only team across all 21 conference sports to hold such a streak.
The Eagles took gold in 12 of 19 events and totaled 991.5 points to claim the title. York cruised to second place with 547 points, while just 9.5 points separated third through fifth. Marymount secured third place with 403.5 points, followed closely by St. Mary's (396) and Salisbury (394). Frostburg State took sixth at 361.
Frostburg State's Macey Nitchie became the first Bobcat to earn Swimmer of the Year of the after winning three individual golds. Nitchie won the 50 freestyle on Friday, the 200 freestyle on Saturday, the finished the sprint freestyle sweep on Sunday with a title in the 100 in an NCAA 'B' cut time of 52.08.
York head coach Greg Doyle won Coach of the Year, becoming the second Spartans' women's coach to nab the honor.
UMW's Julia Geskey captured Rookie of the Year accolades. Geskey won the 100 backstroke and was a part of three relay golds for the Eagles. She is the 15th UMW swimmer to receive Rookie of the Year honors.
UMW's Anna Corley, the 2016 Swimmer of the Year, wrapped up her final championship with seven total golds, including two on Sunday. Corley touched first in the 100 IM and teamed with Geskey, Lauren Wood, and Shannon Coryell for a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay on Sunday. Corley's 100 IM time set a new CAC and championship meet record at 58.15.
Also victorious for the champion Eagles were Maddy Rymer in the 200 backstroke (2:05.15) and Carley Vaughn in the 200 butterfly (2:08.45).
York's Maddy Mann, the 2016 Rookie of the Year, secured her second individual gold of the weekend on Sunday in the 1650 freestyle (17:36.97).
Marymount's Morgan Alston also collected her second gold of the championship on Sunday, taking top honors in the 200 breaststroke at 2:26.17.
