York's Williams & Wantz Sweep CAC Swimmer of the Week Awards

CAC -- The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its weekly awards for the first week of November as the 2019-20 swimming campaign is underway. York senior Greg Williams earned CAC Men's Swimmer of the Week accolades, while York senior Justine Wantz claimed CAC Women's Swimmer of the Week honors for the second straight week.


WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Justine Wantz - York (Pa.)

York senior Justine Wantz picked up two more individual first place finishes in the Spartans victory over St. Mary's on Saturday in York's home opener. Wantz won the 50 back in a time of 28.49 while she captured victory in the 200 back with a time of 2:13.92. Wantz was also the lead off swimmer in the winning 400 medley relay team as the Spartans finished with a time of 4:12.35. Wantz leads the team with six individual wins in three meets and owns the top time in the 200 back in the CAC.


MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Greg Williams - York (Pa.)

York senior Greg Williams picked up a pair of wins as the Spartans rolled to a victory over St. Mary's in their 2019-20 home opener. Williams won the 50 back in a time of 25.10 and he followed that with a victory in the 200 back, touching the wall in a time of 1:59.29. Williams now leads the team in individual wins with four. He owns the second best time in the CAC in the 200 backstroke this year.

LEAGUE NOTES

Salisbury senior Josh Brown earned two individual titles this Saturday at Southern Virginia. Brown swam the 100-yard back in 57.29 and the 200-yard back in 2:26.18. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Brown was the third guy of the quartet finishing his part of the relay in 21.10, Brown was the fastest swimmer of the relay team. They finished the exhibition race in 1:30.96...Salisbury's Chase McClure earned two individual first-place finishes this weekend at Southern Virginia. McClure raced in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle races. McClure finished the 100-yard in 57.82 and the 200-yard in 2:08.47. McClure was also part of the relay team, where she was the anchor, finishing her section of the race in 26.49 (the fastest of the relay members) to finish the exhibition race in 1:48.77 for the Sea Gulls....James Baldwin led Southern Virginia in their home-opener in a CAC clash against the Sea Gulls. He picked up a victory in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.67. He added to his day two second place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle...Emmy Waite won the earned the Knights lone win of the contest as she pulled off the victory in the 50 freestyle in a time of 27.78 and added a second place finish in the 100 freestyle.
