FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Christopher Newport sophomore Johanna Ranta-aho earned CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors for April 10, 2018.

Christopher Newport sophomore Johanna Ranta-aho earned CAC Player of the Week honors for the second time this season after winning all four matches she played in conference play last week. Against Penn State Harrisburg, who posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles and teamed with Lily Schreiber for an 8-0 triumph at No. 2 doubles. Against York, she won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and secured another 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles with Isabelle Wessel. Ranta-aho has now won 10-straight singles matches.

In the ITA National Team Rankings, Mary Washington is ranked No. 19 and Christopher Newport is ranked No. 24 ... In the ITA Atlantic South Regional rankings, UMW is No. 6 and CNU is No. 7 ...  Six CAC players are ranked in the ITA Atlantic South Region singles rankings - CNU's Johanna Ranta-Aho is No. 7, UMW's Kait Brogan is No. 9, Salisbury's Annika Kezman is No. 11, UMW's Rachel Summers is No. 12, UMW's Caroline Mosberg is No. 22, and CNU's McKinney Harwood is No. 23 ... Mary Washington sophomore Rachel Summers picked up a win at No. 2 singles as No. 19 Mary Washington fell to ninth-ranked Carnegie Mellon, 5-4, on Saturday. She scored a 6-3, 7-6 win over Jamie Vizelman ... St. Mary's senior Melissa Barall went 2-0 on the weekend in singles play as Barall took down both of her opponents at Southern Virginia and Frostburg State at No. 1 singles in straight sets. In the win against Frostburg State, she only dropped one game. Barall teamed up with Chelsea English for a 1-1 week at No. 1 doubles, losing only one game in the win over Frostburg State ... Salisbury sophomore Annika Kezman went 3-0 in a pair of CAC wins on Friday. She claimed an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles against Penn State Harrisburg with playing partner Julia Kwedi. Against York, Kezman and Kwedi won 8-3 while Kezman earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles ... Southern Virginia junior Lauren Morrison went 3-0 last week with wins at No. 3 singles vs. St. Mary's and Sweet Briar and a victory at No. 3 doubles vs. St. Mary's.
