Southern Virginia Sophomore LaRee Crockett Honored as CAC Volleyball Player of the Week

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Southern Virginia sophomore LaRee Crockett was honored as the CAC Volleyball Player of the Week for Oct. 9, 2017.

Southern Virginia sophomore LaRee Crockett was honored as the CAC Player of the Week after averaging 12.57 assists per set in a 2-0 week for the Knights. Crockett opened the week with 37 assists in a 3-0 sweep over Shenandoah. She followed that up with a career-high 51 assists in a 3-1 triumph against Frostburg State. Crockett also notched 15 digs in the win over FSU to post a double-double.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport is No. 24 in the American Volleyball Coaches' Association Oct. 3 National Rankings, while Mary Washington is receiving votes ... CNU sophomore Katie Piper led the Captains to a pair of CAC victories after pumping a team-high 24 kills during triumphs over Salisbury and Wesley. Against the Sea Gulls on Friday, she posted her fourth double-double of the year after notching a match-high 11 kills to go along with 14 digs. On Saturday, she wrapped up her week with a match-high 13 kills in a three-set victory over Wesley ... Frostburg State sophomore Biamba Tshitenge hit .349 with 18 kills, seven digs and seven blocks in two matches ... Mary Washington sophomore Savannah Powers scored 60 kills in three UMW contests this week, as the Eagles finished 2-1. She had 16 kills with a .324 hitting average in a 3-0 win over Catholic, then followed with 19 kills and a .395 average at Wesley. She capped the week with 25 kills at Salisbury on Saturday. She also scored seven service aces, 19 digs, and three total blocks ... Marymount junior Caroline Hanson posted her sixth triple-double of the year on Saturday against Susquehanna, putting down a match-high 17 kills on .262 hitting, sending out a team-high 13 assists, and diving out for a team-high 11 digs. The junior still leads the country in triple-doubles with six ... In her first matches back since Sept. 9, Brigid Morris paced St. Mary's in kills and points. Morris led the Seahawks at York and against Eastern Mennonite. She ended the week with a career-high 19 kills and .320 hitting percentage against EMU ... Salisbury sophomore Rachel Dubbs helped lead the Sea Gulls to a 1-1 weekend including a CAC win over Mary Washington. Against the Eagles, Dubbs picked up a season-high 34 assists and a team-high four service aces. For the weekend Dubbs recorded a hitting percentage of .333, and totaled 56 assists, 10 digs, five service aces and a block assist ... Wesley senior Tionne Graves-Brown tallied 22 kills and 12 digs in three games last week for the Wolverines ... York junior outside hitter Eryn Brady led the Spartans to a pair of wins on the week including a 3-0 win over St. Mary's on Friday. Brady began the week with 12 kills, three digs, and three block assists in the 3-1 win over Lancaster Bible on Tuesday night. Brady accumulated 13.5 points and hit .370 in the win for the Green and White. Brady followed that with eight kills, two digs, and a block assist for 8.5 points in the three set win over the Seahawks. Brady hit .400 for the night as York extended their win streak to six. York also improved to 7-1 at home. For the year, Brady is averaging 2.09 kills per set as she is hitting .253.
