NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Six CAC teams competed last week, while Mary Washington, Marymount, Salisbury, and Wesley were idle ... Christopher Newport sophomore Miriam Kolbai registered her first career top-10 finish after leading the Captains in the 6k during the CNU Invitational on Saturday at Lee Hall Mansion. During the race, she placed sixth overall with a time of 25:14.0. That marked the second-fastest 6k clocking of her career. It also was her second straight finish in the top-20 after placing 20th at the Don Cathcart Invitational last week ... Frostburg State sophomore Lauren Halvorson led the Bobcats to an 18th-place finish at the DeSales Invitational, finishing 104th in 27:22.2 ... Lindsey Stevenson became the first St. Mary's women's cross country runner to ever finish in the top three while the Seahawks earned their second-ever first-place trophy at the Goucher Classic. Stevenson, who switched from women's soccer to cross country mid-year, ran a 25:57.62 for second overall, surpassing the previous highest finish of fourth by Shannon Rafferty '14 (2010) and Keighly Bradbrook '14 (2013). She has placed in the top 20 in her first three meets since joining the team, including a pair of top 15 finishes ... Southern Virginia freshman Morgan Bingham posted a personal best 5K time of 19:20.60, which was good enough to win the DIII race at Hagan Stone Classic and take second overall (beating runners from other DI and DII programs).
