FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Wesley junior Evan Anderson was honored as the CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 27, 2017.

Wesley junior Evan Anderson was honored as the CAC Player of the Week after scoring 16 points and hitting the game-winning three-pointer in a comeback 74-73 CAC win over Penn State Harrisburg last Tuesday. Trailing 71-59 with just over two minutes remaining, Anderson helped the Wolverines cap off a 15-3 run in the closing minutes with the game-winning three-pointer with five seconds on the clock. Anderson added four rebounds and two steals in the victory while shooting 6-of-7 from the free throw line.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

In the preseason national rankings, Christopher Newport is ranked No. 14 by D3hoops.com. The first regular season rankings will be released on Nov. 27 ... York is the lone remaining unbeaten in the conference at 3-0 ... Christopher Newport senior Aaron McFarland led the Captains by scoring 19 points, with 11 in the second half, in a 64-54 home loss to Dickinson ... Senior forward Eric Shaw led Mary Washington to the finals of the Carnegie Mellon Doubletree Invitational this weekend, averaging 19.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest in gaining his second all-tournament team selection of the young season. He scored 27 points to go with five rebounds in a 69-54 win over Baruch, and then scored 11 points with five caroms in a loss to the hosts in the championship ... Marymount sophomore Taiga Walker posted career numbers on Sunday evening in a thrilling victory over Bridgewater, notching a career- and game-high 13 points along with a career-high four assists including the dish for the game-winning three-pointer by junior Brandon Rogers with one second remaining for the 57-55 decision ... Ochae Bynum led St. Mary's at Penn State Altoona with a season-best 21 points as Bynum knocked down a career-high four three-pointers. He also added season-bests of five assists and two rebounds ... Salisbury sophomore Al Leder scored a team-high and season-high 16 points against Virginia Wesleyan last Tuesday. He went 5-of-12 from the field while shooting 3-of-8 from behind the three-point arc. For the season he is now 5-of-18 from behind the arc and is 11-of-30 (36.7%) from the field and ranks second on the team with 35 points ... Southern Virginia senior Aarun Rumbaugh averaged 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game last week for the Knights. Rumbaugh is third in the CAC in rebounds per game (8.5) and leads the team in points per game (15.0) ... York senior Matt Scamuffo led the Spartans to a 1-0 week as they beat Gettysburg in their lone game for the week. Scamuffo poured in a game-high 21 points in just 17 minutes in an 83-59 win, whooting 8-for-11 from the floor and 5-for-8 from three-point range. The 20-point effort was his second of the season and 17th of his Spartan career. Scamuffo also broke into the top 20 in all-time scoring list at York with 1,070 points. He is sixth on the all-time three pointers list with 177, seven triples away from fifth place. For the year, he leads the team in scoring at 17.7 points through three games. He is shooting 50% (13-for-26) from three and is shooting 59.2% from the field overall.
