Stevenson’s Ben Lukehart Captures CAC Golfer And Rookie Of The Year Awards

For the second time in the last three years, one CAC golfer earned the Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards while leading his team to the program’s first CAC championship. Stevenson freshman Ben Lukehart carded a tournament-best 73 in the rain-shortended championship to win medalist honors and lead the Mustangs to the 2011 team title. Lukehart is the first Stevenson player to capture either the Player or Rookie of the year awards.

Stevenson freshman Ben Lukehart earned two awards with his play in Friday's first round of the 2011 CAC Golf Championsihp, and despite Saturday's rain out the second half of the tournament, Stevenson's Chris Ramer and Hood's Andy Alger also gained top individual awards.

Stevenson University freshman Ben Lukehart is on top of the leaderboard with a two-over-par 73, holding a three-stroke lead over Wesley's Robert Ehrhardt, after the first round of the 2011 CAC Golf Championship. Tournament host Stevenson is also leading the team standings by 13 strokes over York College at the midway mark of the tournament.

Wesley’s Robert Ehrhardt and Clayton Bunting both won Rookie of the Year awards during the 2010 golf season and led the Wolverines to the CAC title. They hope to lead Wesley to another conference crown in 2011, which would be the third in the four-year history of CAC golf.
Hood Golf Team Sets Team Record For Tournament Score In Tying For First Place At Messiah Tournament

The Hood College men's golf team took second out of 11 teams at the Falcon Classic hosted by Messiah College at the Blue Ridge Country Club. After tying host Messiah for first place with a combined score of 309, the tiebreaker decision reviewed the round carded by each team's No. 5 scorer. Messiah edged out Hood by one stroke, 88-89, to claim the title. In the final fall match of the season, Hood set a school record with its combined score.
