Christopher Newport junior Joey Corlett was honored as the CAC Men's Golfer of the Week after putting together a career-best performance at the 68th Annual Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) Intercollegiate Championship. Corlett placed second individually out of 101 competitors. with a 36-hole total of two-under par 140 (69-71), finishing three strokes behind tournament champion Damian Beasley from Ferrum. Led by Corlett, the Captains placed third in the team standings.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

The 2017 fall men's golf season is winding down, with only three more tournaments slated for CAC teams ... Four CAC teams competed at the Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) Intercollegiate Championship last week, with Mary Washington (+27, 595) edging out CNU (+29, 597) for second place among the 18 competing squads. Team champion Virginia Wesleyan edged UMW by three strokes to claim the team title. Marymount and Southern Virginia finished 15th and 16th, respectively ... Southern Virginia's Cameron Speyer placed tied for 45th with a two-day total of 12-over par 154 to lead the Knights.
