FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- The St. Mary's duo junior Juwan Kearson and senior Zack Haussler and Salisbury junior Trevor Brookhart earned the CAC Men's Soccer weekly awards for Oct. 23, 2017.   

Offensive Player of the Week

St. Mary's junior Juwan Kearson was selected as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring once in each game in a 2-0 week for the Seahawks. Kearson started the week by netting the insurance goal in a 2-0 win over No. 16 Mary Washington, before notching the game-winner in a 2-0 victory against Wesley. He now leads the team with seven goals and 17 points while ranking second in the conference with four game-winners. 

  

 

Co-Defensive Player of the Week

St. Mary's senior Zack Haussler collected CAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording two shutouts in a 2-0 week for the Seahawks. In a 2-0 win over No. 16 Mary Washington, Haussler made five saves. He followed that up with six stops in the win over Wesley as the Seahawks moved into sole possession of second in the CAC standings. Haussler remains atop of the conference in save percentage, GAA, and shutouts. This marks Haussler's third CAC weekly honor of the season. 

 

 

 

Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Salisbury junior Trevor Brookhart earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after giving up just one goal in 202 minutes of action last week. The only goal Brookhart surrendered was a penalty kick. He tallied eight saves in a 1-1 tie with first-place Christopher Newport, including three in overtime to preserve a key point in the CAC standings for the Sea Gulls. In a 1-0 win over Frostburg State in overtime, Brookhart saved all five shots he faced for his fourth shutout of the season.

Mary Washington is ranked No. 16 in the United Soccer Coaches national rankings, while Christopher Newport is ranked No. 24 in the D3soccer.com poll ... In the first NCAA Regional Rankings of the year, Mary Washington is ranked No. 7 and Christopher Newport is No. 8 in the South Atlantic Region ... With one game remaining in the CAC regular season, Christopher Newport (7-0-1) and St. Mary's (7-1) have secured the top two seeds and first-round byes, and will host the semifinals. Mary Washington (6-2) and York (4-3-1) have clinched playoff spots, while Penn State Harrisburg (4-4), Salisbury (3-3-2) and Frostburg State (3-5) are fighting for the final two postseason bids ... Freshman Jeremy Hokenson provided Mary Washington's goal against CNU on Saturday. He has six goals and four assists on the season, tops on the team in both categories ... Marymount junior Mynor Danilo Lopez scored a goal in each of the Saints' two games this past week, scoring one of the four in a shutout at Southern Virginia and notching the lone goal on Saturday against Penn State Harrisburg ... CNU has run its unbeaten streak to 12 games ... Salisbury senior Nick Carrington converted his third penalty kick of the year 2:14 into the first overtime period against Frostburg State to give Salisbury a 1-0 win. The goal was Carrington's third game-winner of the season. The three points were key for Salisbury in the CAC standings, keeping the Sea Gulls in the playoff race, and putting Salisbury within reach of a home game in the conference tournament ... Southern Virginia senior goalkeeper Colin Flynn recorded 13 saves (save % of .520) last week. He leads the CAC in saves this season ... Wesley junior Chimaobi Ikwuagwu scored two goals in Wesley's 3-1 win over York on Wednesday ... York senior Joel Teston led the Spartans to a big senior day win on Saturday against Southern Virginia. Teston tallied three goals on just three shots in the victory. Teston scored three straight goals in the victory. He tallied his goals in the 21st, the 32nd, and the 54th minutes of play for the natural hat trick. For the season, Teston has eight points on four goals.
