YORK, Pa. -- York freshman Jesse Tate was named the CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week for Nov. 1, 2016.

York freshman Jesse Tate was named the CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week after breaking two records in the Spartans' CAC victory over Salisbury on Saturday. Tate earned a pair of individual wins with his record-breaking performances, setting a school record in the 100 butterfly (52.62) and breaking the pool record in the 200 IM (1:58.98). He was also a part of the winning 400 medley relay in 3:38.59, and placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:47.51). Tate's times in the 200 IM (27th) and 100 butterfly (30th) rank in the top-30 nationally.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All six CAC teams have opened the 2016-17 campaign ... In CAC action last week, Mary Washington defeated Frostburg State 144-23, Marymount edged St. Mary's 112-93, and York downed Salisbury 166-96 ...  In two meets last week, Frostburg State junior Christian March posted a win in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.67) and took second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.26) against UMW. Against Alderson-Broaddus and Washington & Jefferson, he won the 50-meter free (24.46), the 200-meter breaststroke (2:35.97) and the 200-meter IM (2:20.43) ... Freshman Austin Farrar led Mary Washington to wins over Frostburg State and Randolph-Macon as head coach Abby Brethauer won her 100th career meet. Against Frostburg State, Farrar won the 500 free (4:55.22) and the 1000 freestyle (10:03.98). Against Randolph-Macon, Farrar won the 200 freestyle at 1:48.12, and then won the 500 again, at 4:54.68 ... Marymount freshman Zachary Payne led the Saints to a season-opening victory over St. Mary's on Saturday, recording two first-place finishes in his first collegiate meet. He won the 200-yard Freestyle in a time 1:50.94, just less than a second shy of joining the top-10 list in program history in the event, and also won the 500-yard freestyle in a time 5:08.36, 11 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher ... Salisbury senior Okan Eyigor was part of one first-place and two second-place finishes for the Sea Gulls in a CAC defeat to York.
