FREDERICKBURG, Va. -- Wesley freshman Christian Saulsbury and Salisbury freshman Donovan Beckett-Simms garnered CAC Men's Track & Field weekly awards for Feb. 6, 2018.

Wesley freshman Christian Saulsbury grabbed CAC Track Athlete of the Week honors after taking first place and recording the 13th-fastest time in the nation in the 60-meter dash at the Eastern Shore Invitational at University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Saulsbury clocked in at 6.95 seconds, the top time in the CAC and the Mideast Region.

Salisbury freshman Donovan Beckett-Simmons secured CAC Field Athlete of the Week honors after breaking the school record and posting the 14th-best mark in the nation in the triple jump at the Eastern Shore Invitational. Beckett-Simms jumped to a mark of 47'-1", breaking Matthew Adedeji's previous record of 46'-7.25" set in 2016-17.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport competed at the Camel City Invitational and hosted the Vince Brown Invitational last week. Cavanaugh McGaw helped anchor a pair of nationally-ranked relay teams, running the anchor leg on the Men's Distance Medley Relay, which won the race in 10:10.89. That clocking not only topped a field featuring four Division I programs, but it also marked the second-fastest time in the nation this year. Two days later, McGaw ran the second leg on the 4x400-relay at the Vince Brown Invitational. He helped the foursome post a time of 3:23.51, which stands first in the CAC and 25th in the NCAA this year ... Frostburg State compete at the SU Challenge at Susquehanna. Sophomore John Kerns posted his fourth-consecutive ECAC-qualifying effort in the weight throw at 15.29 meters, placing him second overall and first among DIII competitors. Kerns also took 28th in the shot put at 11.28 meters ... Mary Washington senior Daniel Forjan was the Eagles' top finisher at the Vince Brown Invitational on Sunday. He won the shot put at 48'-1.25" as well as the weight throw, at 48'-4.5". Senior Jose Mundo tied the school indoor record for the 60 meters on Sunday at Christopher Newport, running 7.05 in the semifinals before placing fifth in the finals ... Salisbury junior Emmanuel Porquin picked up a fourth-place finish at the Eastern Shore Invite in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 2:02.00. He continued his successful afternoon with a second-place finish in the mile run, recording a time of 4:26.85 ... As a team, Wesley collected four first places at the Eastern Shore Invite. Freshman John Heriot picked up first in the long jump at the Eastern Shore Invite with a leap of 6.98 meters (22-10.75). His mark ranks fourth in the Mideast Region and tied for 19th in Division III ... York competed at the SU Challenge at Susquehanna. Senior Darris Rodrigues took fourth in the pole vault at 4.05 meters (13'-3.5") and owns the fourth-best heigh in the event in the CAC this year. Senior Alex Smith won the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:33.31. Smith was the first of 32 participants and won the event by over nine seconds over Michael Urban from Shippensburg.
