Lynn O'Dell Selected As Men's And Women's Cross Country Coach At St. Mary's

Scott Devine, the director of Athletics and Recreation at St. Mary's College of Maryland, announced Thursday morning that Lynn O'Dell has been named the second head coach of the Seahawk men's and women's cross country programs. O'Dell is no stranger to St. Mary's County as she has served as a physical education and health teacher in the St. Mary's County Public School System for the past 19 years.

Just a few months ago Salisbury University freshman Ryan Jackson was deciding if cross country was what he wanted to do. He had never competed in the sport before. Though he had run distance on his high school track & field team, soccer was the sport he played in the fall.

Sunday the NCAA announced the field for the 2010 Division III Cross Country Championships, to be hosted by Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa on Saturday, Nov. 20. The announcement brought the exciting news that Salisbury University runner Ryan Jackson will get to continue his outstanding freshman campaign as he qualified for the event. The men's race will begin at noon, eastern time.

For the fourth time in program history, the Salisbury University cross country teams swept the Capital Athletic Conference Championships. Saturday, the Sea Gull men claimed their ninth title, topping the nearest team by 29 points while the women bested their closest competitor by 23 points to earn their seventh CAC championship
