YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury senior Megan Wallenhorst and Wesley sophomore Savannah Clough were named the CAC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for March 1, 2016.  

Offensive Player of the Week

Salisbury senior Megan Wallenhorst claimed CAC Offensive Player of the Week after tallying six goals and four assists in wins over Roanoke and nationally-ranked Catholic last week. Against Roanoke, Wallenhorst finished with six points on two goals and four assists in the 20-1 victory. She also led the Sea Gulls to a 12-7 win over then-ranked No. 7 Catholic, scoring four goals in the contest.

Defensive Player of the Week

Savannah Clough | Wesley | So. | GK

Dundalk, Md.  Patapsco    

Wesley sophomore Savannah Clough was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after making 18 saves in the Wolverines' four-goal victory over Randolph last Saturday. Clough registered a 62.1% save percentage and also recorded a caused turnover and three ground balls to give the team their first win of the year.

In the IWLCA National Rankings, Salisbury is No. 7, York is No. 8 and Mary Washington is No. 18 ... In the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Rankings, Salisbury is No. 7, York is No. 8 and Mary Washington is No. 19 ... Mary Washington (4-0), Salisbury (3-0) and St. Mary's (2-0) remain unbeaten in 2016 ... Christopher Newport's Meaghan Galvin continued her early-season outburst with a team-high five points in a 14-11 defeat to Washington College, who entered the contest receiving votes in the IWLCA poll. Galvin registered three goals, two assists, four draw controls and forced a turnover ... Seven different players scored a pair of goals as UMW downed Guilford on Sunday. Freshman Mackenzie Maguire scored five goals and added an assist for the week to pace the UMW offense ... St. Mary's knocked off No. 16 Washington & Lee last Wednesday, 8-7. Meg Gesner notched the game-winning goal on a free position shot with 1:13 left in regulation and also added an assist and a ground ball in the win. Mackenzie Rayburn picked up the game-saving caused turnover and ground ball as time expired to preserve the win ... Salisbury goalkeeper Gianna Falcone allowed just eight goals throughout the week, totaling a 5.33 goals against average ... Southern Virginia's Rainey Whitworth posted three goals, one assist, two draw controls, four groundballs and caused two turnovers in the Knights' 12-5 victory over Ferrum last Tuesday ... Wesley earned a 15-11 over Randolph on Saturday. Three different Wolverines scored three goals apiece while Ashley Luna netted a goal and dished off a pair of assists ... York fell to No. 3 Franklin & Marshall, 9-8, in a top-10 showdown. Rachel Saks led the Spartans with three goals while Nicole Clauter tallied three draw controls and one caused turnover. Saks leads the Spartans on the year with five goals and has scored her five goals on just five shots.
