FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- York sophomore Meghan Fox and junior Nicole Clauter swept the CAC Women's Lacrosse weekly honors for March 19, 2018.  

Offensive Player of the Week

York sophomore Meghan Fox was selected as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after totaling 14 points in a pair of wins last week, including a come-from-behind victory over third-ranked Trinity (Conn.). Trailing Trinity 7-1 in the first half, Fox started the comeback with three goals before halftime as the Spartans ended the half down 7-5. She scored three goals early in the second half and then scored York's 14th and 15th goals to tie the game with 2:48 left in regulation. Fox finished the game with a career-high eight goals, which is also the second-highest single game total in school history. Shethen followed that with four goals and two assists in a road win at Oswego on Saturday. For the week, Fox totaled 14 points on 12 goals and two assists and also had a ground ball, a draw control and a caused turnover. She put 18 of her 23 shots on target (78.3%).

York junior Nicole Clauter secured CAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the second time this year after totaling 18 draw controls, four caused turnovers and four ground balls in a 2-0 week for the Spartans. Caluter opened the week with a school-record 12 draw control in the Spartans' victory over third-ranked Trinity (Conn.). She also notched two ground balls and two caused turnovers in the win. She then closed out the week with six draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers in a win at Oswego.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Four CAC women's lacrosse teams are ranked in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) national rankings - Salisbury is No. 3, York is No. 5, Mary Washington is No. 7 and St. Mary's is No. 25 ... Christopher Newport suffered a pair of close losses to Washington College and Haverford last week. Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Ready made 30 saves during the week, including 17 in an overtime battle against Haverford on Thursday. Eight of those saves came during the final 20 minutes of the contest as CNU overcame a two-goal deficit to force overtime. Along with her work against the Fords, Ready also made 13 saves against Washington College on Tuesday, including six on free-position attempts. She has now recorded at least 10 saves in six straight contests, which stands as the longest-streak in program history. Catherine Leighty led the Captains' attack with eight points during the week ... Junior Morgan Cavey totaled 10 points in two games for Frostburg State last week. The Bobcats defeated Goucher 19-6 before falling to Lynchburg 19-8 ... Mary Washington dropped its only game of the week, falling to top-ranked Gettysburg, 12-4 ... Marymount junior Jessica Crew had an eight-point week through two games, notching six points against Susquehanna, including the game-tying goal to send the game to overtime where the Saints eventually scored the game winner, and two goals against Bridgewater. She now sits second in the league in goals (28), fifth in points (32) and fourth in shots (46) ... Emma Brown recorded two straight games of double-digit saves in a 2-1 week for St. Mary's. Brown posted 15 saves and a career-best four ground balls at Occidental before picking up 10 stops and two ground balls against No. 8 Franklin & Marshall. She made four stops, caused a game-best two turnovers, and picked up two ground balls in the win over Roanoke. Megan Cannon tallied nine points on seven goals and two assists to pace the Seahawks' offense ... Salisbury senior Dana King scored six goals in a 13-10 win over Brockport. King has now scored six goals in three of Salisbury's last four games. Senior Allie Hyson scooped up four ground balls and won five draw controls against Brockport. She also caused one turnover in the win. Hynson's five draw controls moved her into third in program history with 127 in her career ... Wesley junior Fallon Fore notched 11 goals and five assists last week in wins over Centenary (N.J.) and Lancaster Bible. Senior Alexis Galloway caused six turnovers and scooped up six ground balls.
