YORK, Pa. -- Frostburg State sophomore Naya Cheatem was selected as the CAC Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 22, 2015.

Frostburg State sophomore Naya Cheatem was selected as the CAC Volleyball Player of the Week after averaging 4.79 kills per set while hitting .357 in a 4-0 week for the Bobcats. Cheatem totaled 57 kills in four matches and also added 26 digs for the week, including a 17-kill, 13-dig performance in a 3-0 sweep of Marietta.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport remained at No. 3 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Week 2 Top-25, released last Tuesday. CNU also received one first-place vote in the poll while Mary Washington was just outside the top-25, receiving 23 votes ... Christopher Newport's Briana Sutton and Rachel Conway earned spots on the CNU Invitational All-Tournament Team after leading the Captains to a 3-1 record over the weekend. Sutton matched her career-high with 21 kills and hit .425 against No. 4 Juniata on Friday, and has now posted at least 10 kills in all 13 of CNU's matches this season, marking the longest streak to open a season in program history. The Captains are now 12-1 this year ... Mary Washington sophomore Rachel Hendricks led the Eagles to three wins this week without a defeat, helping the Eagles improve to 10-3, their best start in four years. She had 13 kills in a 3-0 win over Catholic, 17 in a 3-0 win over Johns Hopkins, and 18 in a 3-1 win at Stevenson on Saturday. For the week, she hit .324 with 48 kills in 10 games, and added four blocks. Mary Washington received votes in the AVCA national poll, and was ranked 22nd in the nation by prepvolleyball.com ... Alli Graf helped St. Mary's to a 1-1 week as Graf collected her fifth double-double of the season. She paced the Seahawks in kills in both matches ... Katie Stouffer led Salisbury through another weekend tournament, tallying 76 total kills through four matches, including 26 against Lebanon Valley, tying for eighth all-time in program history for kills in a single match. On the second day of the tournament, Stouffer registered the 1,000th kill of her career in her 20-kill effort against Swarthmore. She now sits 10th all-time with 1,024 kills in her career ... Wesley's Beth Schlecker was a catalyst for the Wolverines as they earned a pair of wins at Goucher on the weekend. Against host Goucher, Schlecker dished off 34 assists, scooped up eight digs and helped out defensively with a block. Against Cedar Crest, the junior added 20 assists, two aces, and three digs. The setter has been a big part of the Wolverines' early success, leading them to a 7-4 start to the season.
