York Sophomore Brooke Krebs Named CAC Volleyball Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- York sophomore Brooke Krebs earned CAC Volleyball Player of the Week honors for Sept. 12, 2016.

York sophomore Brooke Krebs was honored as the CAC Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Spartans to a 6-0 week including the team championship at the 24th Annual Warrior Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Lycoming. Krebs posted a well-rounded week with double-digit kills or blocks in four of six contests and averaged 2.94 kills and 2.50 digs per set. She also added seven service aces and three blocks on the week. Her top performance of the week came against Lycoming, as she recorded 12 kills, 14 digs and four service aces in a 3-0 victory. She also matched her career-high with 17 kills in a sweep of Dickinson.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport moved up two spots to No. 9 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25, while Mary Washington gained its first-ever national ranking at No. 24 ... CAC volleyball teams boast a 48-29 record through the first two weeks of the season ... Frostburg State's Naya Cheatem registered 50 kills and 4.55 kills per set as the Bobcats finished the week 2-1 ... Sophomore Leslie Walters helped No. 24 Mary Washington to a 3-1 win over Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday night, with 13 kills against two errors in 26 attempts for a .423 hitting average. She added a dig and a block assist for the Eagles, who improved to 6-0 on the season ... Marymount's Emileigh Rettig helped the Saints to a 3-2 week and earned a spot on the All-Tournament team at the Muhlenberg Buttermaker Tournament. Through the five matches, Rettig totaled 61 kills for a .237 kill percentage and registered four double-doubles. She now ranks fifth in the CAC in digs, top among outside hitters ... St. Mary's Mimi Graf earned All-Tournament team honors at the Washington & Lee Invitational after collecting four double-doubles. Graf tallied career-best 41 assists twice over the weekend. She has now registered a double-double in each match this season and is three shy of her 50th career double-double ... After hard-fought wins over McDaniel and Virginia Wesleyan on Friday, Salisbury rolled through a pair of 3-0 wins against Marywood and Elizabethtown on Saturday to claim the 2016 Sea Gull Classic championship with a 4-0 mark on the weekend. Nicole Venturelli and Jordan Lawson were named to the All-Tournament team for SU ... Southern Virginia's Penny Gwynn leads the team with 55 kills and was named to the Washington & Lee Invitational All-Tournament team this weekend.
