In winning the team’s first conference championship in five years, the Mary Washington women’s cross country team earned five berths on the 2012 All-CAC squad and swept the three individual awards as sophomore Tara Landy was named Athlete of the Year, Lauren Braney was named Rookie of the Year and Stan Soper was picked as Coach of the Year.

Frostburg State, Marymount, Salisbury, & Southern Virginia raced at the Gettysburg College Invitational this past weekend. 36 women’s teams raced, with Salisbury in 13th, Southern Virginia in 17th, & Marymount in 27th. Frostburg State, Mary Washington, Salisbury, Wesley and York will remain inactive until the CAC Championship meet in Frostburg on Oct. 27th.

Six of the seven CAC schools competed this weekend at Frostburg University for the Frostburg State University Invitational. This is the same site where the conference championships will be held later this fall on October 27th. Men ran the 8K course while the women ran a 6K.

Tristin Burris may be the busiest college athlete in America. The senior at Wesley College in Dover, Del., has lettered in five sports, six if you want to count indoor track and spring track separately. She's played field hockey, run cross-country, and run track all four years. She has lettered twice in softball and picked up lacrosse her sophomore year, though she was new to the sport. Frostburg competed at the Waynesburg Invitational on Saturday, finishing 11th overall. Sophomore Gabbi Maher was the first Bobcat to cross the finish line at 26:36.1. She was followed by sophomore Bryn Allston and Jen Bower at 27:23.0 and 26:36.1. Frostburg will be inactive next week and will host the Frostburg State University Invitational in 2 weeks on the 22nd.

After leading Carver Vo-Tech High School in Baltimore to back-to-back Maryland 1A Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field State Championships in 2010 and 2011, Stephen Kimes has been named the new cross country and track & field head coach at Wesley College, Athletic Director Mike Drass announced on Tuesday. Kimes replaces Steve Pickering who coached the Wolverines since 2001.
