YORK, Pa. - CAC-champion York and runner-up Christopher Newport each landed six runners on the 2016 All-CAC Women's Cross Country team to headline the honorees around the conference. The Captains and Spartans also claimed the major individual awards, as CNU senior Emmie Schmitt earned Athlete of the Year, freshman teammate Jessica Lee secured Rookie of the Year, and York head coach Stephen LoBianco was named Coach of the Year.

The York women's cross country team placed four runners in the top seven on its way to the program's first-ever CAC Championship on Saturday in Hershey, Pa. The Spartans totaled 31 points to narrowly defeat second-place Christopher Newport by two points, ending the Captains three-year streak atop the conference.

The 2016 CAC Women's Cross Country Championship meet will be hosted by Penn State Harrisburg this Saturday at the Hershey Entertainment Complex in Hershey, Pa. Race time for women's 6k is set for noon. The men's race will precede the women's at 11 a.m.

Christopher Newport freshman Jessica Lee earned CAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this year after winning the non-Division I portion of the CNU Invitational. Lee registered the Captains' top time in the 6k at 23:10, defeating all non-Division I opponents and posting the 10th-fastest mark by any competitor, including the 37 Division I runners. Guided by Lee's efforts, CNU notched a perfect score of 15 to win the non-Division I competition.

York sophomore Jess Delviscio was honored as the CAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after helping the Spartans to a sixth-place team finish at the DeSales Invitational on Saturday. Delviscio was the top CAC finisher at the meet, taking 29th place with a time of 23:21 in a field of 230 runners.

Christopher Newport freshman Jessica Lee was named the CAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after winning the College Division 5k at the William & Mary Invitational, crossing the line 19:21.3. That performance not only led all non-Division I athletes, but it also placed her 17th among all competitors at the meet. Guided by that performance, the Captains won the team title at the competition with a score of 18.
