FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Salisbury's Alec Angradi & Penn State Harrisburg's Sydney Nye earned CAC Tennis Player of the Week honors for April 16, 2019.

Penn State Harrisburg junior Sydney Nye led the Lions to their second consecutive CAC victory on Saturday afternoon, April 13. The Lions' top singles player defeated the No. 1 from Frostburg State 7-5, 1-6, 6-0 after pairing up with teammate Elysse Mellott to win her No. 1 doubles outing 8-6 over the Bobcats' top duo. The pair of wins helped the Blue & White secure a 6-3 overall victory.

Salisbury juniuor Alec Angradi earned two big wins in Salisbury's 5-4 win against No. 36 Christopher Newport to remain unbeaten in CAC play. Angradi won 8-6 at No. 2 doubles with partner Patrick MacLean for the Sea Gulls' first point of the match. In singles play, it was Angradi that won the deciding fifth point for Salisbury, taking the No. 1 singles match 6-4, 7-5, defeating the No. 7-ranked player in the Atlantic South region, Dominic Lacombe.

Salisbury's Sydney Soto won twice in Salisbury's 9-0 win against Stevenson University on Sunday, winning at No. 1 doubles with Jordan Schaefer, 8-1, and winning at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-2. Against Christopher Newport, Soto, fell at No. 2 doubles and at No. 4 singles...Patrick Hughes turned in a big weekend for #16 Mary Washington at one singles, topping Jon Girel of St. Mary's, 6-1, 6-2, and Jiung Jung of #31 Swarthmore, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. He teamed with Cole Tecce to gain a win at two doubles against St. Mary's, 8-0, and teamed with Michael Fleming to gain an 8-6 win in doubles against Swarthmore. The Eagles have gained 3-0 sweeps in doubles in 12 of their last 13 matches...Claire Coleman led #13 Mary Washington this week, as she picked up a win at two singles in the Eagles' loss to #23 Johns Hopkins, winning 6-7, 7-5, 6-2. Sophomore Rachel Cooper also carried a singles point at six in the match.
