Female Athlete of the Year: Alyssa Roach, Christopher Newport

Celebrated as the C2C Women's Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year, Alyssa Roach pieced together an award-winning senior campaign at Christopher Newport. Hauling in seven All-Conference honors and three league titles during the year, she set a new conference record in the indoor long jump with a 5.87-meter effort before securing an All-American citation in the event. Overall, she ranked first in the league in seven different disciplines during the 2023 campaign while slotting in the top-50 nationally in the indoor long jump, indoor 60-hurdles, outdoor 100-hurdles, pentathlon, and heptathlon.

Male Athlete of the Year: Jahn Hines, Christopher Newport

Jahn Hines has been selected the C2C's Male Athlete of the Year. Hines, a junior from Norfolk, Va., led the Captains to their first National Championship in March, and was named All-American by D3hoops.com prior to the title game. He was selected as a fourth team All-American, and became the 34th CNU player in history to score 1,000 points or more, reaching the lofty plateau during CNU's National Semifinal victory over Swarthmore.  Hines was chosen first team All-America last year by the NABC. He was honored as first team All-District by the NABC for the second straight season as well as first team All-Region by D3hoops.com. In addition to leading the Captains in scoring (17.2 points per game), he was second in rebounding (5.6 per game).  A first team All-Conference selection, Hines was also named to the C2C All-Tournament Team. He reached double figures in scoring in 27 games and posted a pair of double-doubles. Hines eclipsed 30 points twice this past season with a career-high 33.
