UMW’s Krista Rodgers and UCSC’s Sean Riedel Earn C2C Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year Distinction

The 2022-23 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Senior Scholar-Athletes of the Year have been announced. The recipients are below:

Female Senior Scholar-Athlete Award: Krista Rodgers, Mary Washington

Krista Rodgers claimed C2C Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors after leading the Eagles to the C2C volleyball championship and to the third round of the NCAA Tournament, gaining AVCA honorable mention accolades, and graduating with a 3.88 cumulative GPA. An eight-time dean's list honoree, Rodgers was a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma athletics honor society, receiving UMW athletic honor roll and C2C All-Academic team accolades each year. She earned All-America, all-region, all-state, and all-conference honors, and was named the C2C Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year as well, after leading UMW with a .375 hitting average this season, with 297 kills. She added 108 total blocks (46 solo). She became UMW's fifth volleyball All-America since 2016 this fall.

Male Senior Scholar-Athlete Award: Sean Riedel, UC Santa Cruz

Sean Riedel earned C2C Male Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year distinction after repeating as conference champion in the 10,000-meters for the Banana Slugs.  A graduate student from Boulder, Colorado, Riedel was tabbed the C2C men's outdoor track and field scholar-athlete of the year for the second straight year and finished his master's in applied mathematics with a 4.0 GPA.  During the indoor season, he earned USTFCCCA all-region and all-conference second team honors in the 5,000m.  In the Fall, Riedel was a research intern at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
