SU’s Brex, CNU’s Weber Capture C2C Weekly Baseball Honors

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the second week of the 2024 baseball season. Salisbury's Kyle Brex was named C2C Player of the Week, while Christopher Newport's Dylan Weber captured C2C Pitcher of the Week honors.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kyle Brex, Salisbury

Brex slashed .385/.467/.538 with two doubles, three runs, and three RBIs in the Sea Gulls' three-game sweep over 10th-ranked Cortland. Brex opened his weekend with a bang, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs, two RBIs, and a stolen base in the Friday opener.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Dylan Weber, Christopher Newport

Weber kicked off the season with a strong performance on Opening Day, striking out 12 batters in a no decision against William Peace. He tossed 6.0 innings and allowed just two hits and one run in the 2-1 victory. The 12 punchouts is tied for the second most in his career and gives him 276 for his career, ranking fourth most in program history. As a team, the Captains struck out 19 Pacers, ranking as the second most in a single game in CNU history and the best opening day performance by a pitching staff.

HONORABLE MENTION

PLAYER: Josh Reinhold, Christopher Newport; Ty Lowe, Mary Washington

PITCHER: Cole Williams, Salisbury; Justin Ritz, Mary Washington

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Josh Reinhold is leading nationally ranked Christopher Newport with a .375 average through the first four games with six hits in 16 at-bats. He has one double and a triple through the first four games and has walked three times, building his OBP to .474 while slugging .563. He has reached base in all four games this season, and all 46 games of his career to add to an NCAA Division III record to start a career. He ranks 17th all-time in consecutive games reaching base. In a close game against Eastern Mennonite on Sunday, Reinhold singled in the bottom of the 8th and raced all the way home on a double into the left field corner to score an insurance run that would hold up as the game-winning tally. He has driven in five runs and scored six times in the first four games… In two games this weekend, Mary Washington's Ty Lowe went 4-for-9 at the plate, which included a 3-for-5 day against Susquehanna on Saturday. In that game, Lowe doubled twice and then homered late in the game to seal the victory for the Eagles. He drove in a pair of runs on Saturday before driving in three more -- which included the walk-off RBI -- in the bottom of the ninth for the Eagles on Sunday. Against Washington, Lowe walked once and singled in the Eagles' 6-5 win… Salisbury's Cole Williams earned an impressive win in his collegiate debut, tossing 4.2 scoreless relief innings to finish off 10th-ranked Cortland on Friday. Williams scattered just two hits and walked one while striking out four Red Dragons… In his outing against Susquehanna, Mary Washington righty Justin Ritz struck out four, yielded a run on three hits and a walk in five innings. He set the Eagles' bullpen up well in their runaway 11-3 win over the River Hawks on Saturday.
