SU’s Kell, UMW’s Delgado Capture C2C Weekly Baseball Honors

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the fifth week of the 2024 baseball season. Salisbury's Andrew Kell earned C2C Player of the Week acclaim, while Mary Washington's Gabe Delgado took home C2C Pitcher of the Week honors.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Andrew Kell, Salisbury

Kell slashed .583/.600/1.250 with two doubles, two homers, six runs, and seven RBIs over the Sea Gulls' three wins for the week. On Thursday against PSU-Harrisburg, Kell went 2-for-4 with a double, run, and three RBIs, plus an outfield assist from center to third. On Sunday at eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins, Kell blasted a pair of solo home runs and hit the game-winning two-run double in the ninth, finishing 3-for-4 with three runs and four driven in.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Gabe Delgado, Mary Washington

In the second leg of Friday's doubleheader at Hood College, Mary Washington's Gabe Delgado pitched a complete game (seven innings) in the 2-1 victory over the Blazers. In those seven innings, Delgado yielded just three hits and three walks, while striking out five. The lone run the graduate student surrendered was unearned as he lowered his season ERA to 2.35.

PLAYER: Ty Lowe, Mary Washington; Doc Daniels, Christopher Newport

PITCHER: Shawn Rosemond, Salisbury; Jack Rosenberg, Christopher Newport


C2C HIGHLIGHTS

In three games this week, Mary Washington's Ty Lowe collected four base hits in 11 trips to the plate (.364), which included a pair of doubles. In the victory over William Peace, Lowe collected three hits -- one of which was the aforementioned double. In the first leg of Friday's doubleheader at Hood, Lowe doubled home on of the Eagles two runs… Christopher Newport's Doc Daniels recorded three hits in six at-bats and walked twice to reach base in five of his eight plate appearances this week ... Drove in a run and scored twice… Shawn Rosemond won two games in relief for Salisbury during their 3-0 week, posting a 3.60 ERA with four strikeouts over five innings. He tossed an inning and a third scoreless to finish off a win over PSU-Harrisburg on Thursday. Then on Sunday at eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins, Rosemond slammed the door in the bottom of the ninth after SU rallied to take a lead in the top of the ninth.
