INTRODUCING ... Salisbury Men's Basketball Senior Guard Dylan Robeson

It’s difficult to determine if Salisbury senior men’s basketball guard Dylan Robeson wants to be a politician or a coach after his playing days are completed.  He’s got some good ideas for the politicians, like trying to find a more direct route from Salisbury to St. Mary’s without driving north to the Bay Bridge.   His favorite board game features strategy and planning ahead.  Either way, he’s helping the Sea Gulls to one of their best seasons in memory.  INTRODUCING … Dylan Robeson.

Briefly, what is your background in the sport you play?   I started playing basketball when I was five years old.  I played youth league ball growing up and loved playing.

What is your major in college, and what is the most important thing you learned in that discipline?   I am a Physical Education major.  The most important thing I learned throughout my schooling is that all people learn a little differently than the next.  Students cannot all be treated the same because of the unique qualities each person has.

What is your favorite spot on campus?   My favorite place on campus is the gym, because I love to be in the gym whether I am playing or watching another one of our teams.

Outside of your home and campus, where is your favorite place visit?    My favorite place is the beach. I really enjoy lounging on the beach with family and friends.

Briefly describe the most memorable experience during your collegiate athletic career.   My most memorable experience was when we beat the No. 1 team in the country, Virginia Wesleyan College, last year. We played a great game and the crowd was awesome.

Other than your family members, who was the most influential person in your life?   The most influential person has been my 12th grade AP Psychology teacher, Mrs. McNiff.  She helped me be the person I am today by spreading so much laughter and joy.

What is your favorite thing about the CAC, or what would you change about the CAC if you could?   My favorite thing about the CAC is the rivalries that have developed over the years. If I could change anything, I would use a ferry to get to St. Mary’s.

What is the most important societal issue facing college students?  The most important issue is the cost of a college education. Students struggle for years to get out of debt.

If you could change any one item in the world (in your personal life, school, community, amateur or professional sports, national/international issue, etc.), what would it be, why, and how would you do it?   I would lower the age people can run for any office to age 18. If you can vote for Congress and the President, you should be able to run for office. There are too many elderly people making major decisions, and they have a very hard time compromising.

What is your favorite form of entertainment?   I play chess. That is about it. It’s fun and makes you think. The greatest board game ever invented.

If you could give one piece of advice to elementary school children, what would that advice be?   I would tell kids to work towards your goals and do not take ‘no’ for an answer. With the right attitude and work ethic, you can accomplish more than you would have expected.

Outside of the CAC, who or what is your favorite sports person or team?    Being from Northern Virginia, I am a big Washington, D.C. sports fan, so I would have to say the Nationals. I have been following them through all the bad since they moved from Montreal, but last year was awesome.

Name three (3) people, real or fictional, living or dead, that you'd like to have dinner with?   I’d want to have dinner with John Lennon because of all his experiences and the Beatles are my favorite musical artist. Sean Taylor because he is my favorite athlete I have ever watched. And Forrest Gump because, well, it’s Forrest Gump.
